Hey guys my name is Jay. I've been browsing these threads for awhile now because after I sold my Eclipse I knew the new Celica was for me...I've been looking for awhile now and I came across a 2000 Celica GT with 66000 hwy miles, manual, for around 9000 and all the optional options installed. From what I hear shes done all the maintance scheduled. Do you think I should go for it and begin my journey? Or should I hold out for a GT-S? And do you think 66000 miles is a lot to start with? Thanks a lot for your time! Jay

my GT 5-spd came with 52K miles for $10K, but 9K for the near 70K miles might be a stretch. Try to talk them down to 8.5 or 8K for it...8.5 would probably be easier to get them to.

Hold out for the 6spd GT-s if you can find one, but dont let the 5-spd slip away from under you.

the decision is in your hands ;)

i bought my celica for $14,000 at Car Smart in Douglassville. absolutly mint condition, 2000 6spd GT-S, leather, power everything (of course), 35,000 miles. my friend just bought his GT-S around the same time i got mine. his was the same, 2000 6spd cloth seats (hehe), with 60,000 miles and he paid $14,500. i think he could have gotten the price lower but he is too quiet to say anything....

i love my GT-S and wouldnt trade it for anything... although if the right deal comes around go for a GT (always possibility of turbo). 70k miles? eh i would keep looking, thats just me though, i hate high miles.

I live in nd and since everyone here drives to base all the cars(except brand new) come with 60k and up. I bought by 2000 gt mint condition auto :( for 9500 with 69k on it. I've looked everywhere ni the area and all the cars are close to 100k+ due to eeveryone driving 26 miles a day back and forth, i am now turboing my gt and I am going t o do some more work to it after for a total of 14000 i will now have a faster car than a used srt-4 an i think it looks a hell of a lot better and it costs less. if you can find a gt-s go for it but like they said if not don't let the 5-speed slip away. You'll enjoy it and the fun of building it up for looks or speed.

^^^ :werd: It's the same here. Any used car tends to have high miles. I put approx 30K a year on my vehicle.

Wait for a GT-S 6sp.

That's not bad, you may be able to do better.

I got my 00 GTS last year with 30K miles for 13500.

take your time and look for a GT-S, i got my GT with 47 k for 12k. and BOY do i regret getting a damn GT. even tho its not bad cause its a 5spd, i still regret getting a GT. i can barely run away from a turtle.. :(. take your time and find a nice GT-S preferably 00-01

They are zippy enough to give you the illusion they are fast. But in the end, it is slow. I loved my GT but it is slow.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion guys! I actually went to see it...but realized she had lied about the miles and is at around 75k now and didn't want to budge with the price...so easy walkaway..haha..thanks guys i'll keep looking and possibly hold out for the 6spd gt-s or from what i hear i guess if the gt is at a good deal don't skip out on it too..so i just hope i find one soon around here for a good deal

I found mine on AutoTrader.com, Even though I love the GTS I'm missing the Black 01' GT, If all the cars in the area are high milage it may be worth a few hours drive to a nearby state to find a low milage car or to save money. I drove 2 1/2 hours to find the one I wanted my 2nd choice would have been a 6-7 hour drive, just a thought.
