Does anyone know if theres a cross member
below the oil pan... or can i just drop it without
moving anything else? I need to drill into it for
an return/ feed line.

yes you can drop it...use a putty knife around the edges and try not to bugger the edges up....and definatly use toyota FIPG to re-seal it...accept no other substitute

^What smaay said, but you are going to have to drop the motor mounts and crossmember for the turbo install, anyways.
More on what smaay said with the oil pan... the putty knife is probably the best thing, but try to get one that is sharpened AND sturdy. I got mine from Ace hardware... it was a sharpened putty knife with a metal butt on it so I could slug it with a mallot. Dont skimp on the FIPG when you put the pan back on, either. Have fun ; o )

My dealer told me that they couldn't get the FIPG and that they didn't have it!!! I used a subsitute and so far no leaks! Deffinately get the Toyota stuff if you can!

That is what I thought....they usually are very "in the know" and have it all together. I mean I would never let them touch my car but they are usually pretty knowledgable about parts I need and they are quick to get them. Oh well....worst case scenario is that my pan starts to leak and I have to pull it off and re seal it....not too bad.

yeah it only took me about 15 minutes with a ***** little paint scraper and a hammer. It isn't too bad esspecially after you break through in a couple spots.

:ugh: Isnt there more of a chance of denting the oilpan or gauging the matting surface doing it like that?

anyone know where i can get a steel oil pan bung that i can hook a 5/8 hose to? because my bung is brass so we couldnt weld it to the oil pan.

All I could find was brass too, I had it brazed onto my pan. I think what most people do is just use a silicone sealant and make sure its water tight (or i guess oil tight, in this case...)
