I cleaned and oiled the aem cai filter using the k&N recharger kit.
I let it dry for couple days and installed it but it was leaking alot of oil especially after I drove it around some.
I had figured the oil was already dried. What should I do?
Did I damamge something?
now my rpm keeps dropping down to .6k instead of 7.5k after 1 week.
I 've never had the rpm go down to .6k. and I don't think it's the ecu adjusting.

I tried to put at less oil as possible to coat the whole thing. I had a very small leak/drop inside and wipe it clean. I also wipe the filter clean of an excess oil with tissue and make sure the filter is dry before using.
Clean your MAF before it gets more damaged.

:AF: Damn what did u do, spill most of that oil on the filter??? :AF:
I think u overfilled the filter with that k&n oil. Umm one sollution, u can dry it with ur blow drier, it's more faster and you'll know if oil is still leaking.

You could always take the filter off and wash it, and then try re-oiling it again without as much gusto. :)

the proper way to oil a K&N Filter is to oil each pleat one time...just drag the bottle accross the pleat and turn as you go...until each pleat is oiled...allow it to soak in for about 15 minutes and you are done!

K&N said never used blow dryer or any heat source to try to dry the filter as it may shrink.

Attach filter to the end of a vaccume cleaner and turn on vaccume cleaner. This will suck out all the excess oil.

No one has answered my question.
It was put on 2 weeks ago so all the oil leaked out after the 1st week.
So is there any damage that can be done by sucking up oil?

You'll get the MAF dirty, which is probably why your idle is bad. Clean it with electronics cleaner from Radio Shack. Aside from that, there shouldn't be any other damage, I would think it would get burned off in the engine if it got up there.

I bought some electronics cleaner from Advance Auto today. It comes in a little spray can, like a mini WD-40 can. Just spray it on whatever you want to clean and let it dry. Blow some air on it to speed the process. Total time is about 30 seconds.
