Ok, so after my days of power-shifting, it appears as though I have done what everyone told me I was gonna do. (Ruin my my gears) When down-shifting to 2nd now, even at relatively low speeds my gears grind. Also shifting into 2nd at high Rpm's also seems to get this grinding. Car is still under warranty so I think Im ok with $$. So now I have a few questions.
1.) What have I done (Beside being stupid)
2.) What will have to be done to fix this...? (Remove tranny...?)
3.) How long should this take to fix?

1- you have a bad 2nd gear synchro
2- yes the tranny will have to be remove and dismantled
3- dont know on the time period.. good places can do it in a few hours :)

Thanks... I think I should get it fixed before the CAI gets here.

although the CAI has NOTHING to do with it I'd get it fixed before just so that the dealership sees your nice.. wholesome... stock.... image.... after that do whatever you want...
you know the cocksuckers today alleged that the stock airbox was removed and reinstalled on my car... i told him to kiss my ass and that the reason i dont have a CAI is exactly so that he cant say **** like that... anyway.. couldnt argue with the unplugged evap line.. freaking thing pressurized my fuel tank...

Power shifting will do that to any car. The GTS seems to have weak synchros (many non power shifters having problems). The combo has led to your problems so early.

the GTS probably has weak synchros cuz they're physically small. with 6 gears in the same space as a tranny that usually has 5 gears (not much room for size in this layout), everything shrinks. it's the same for all new FWD 6-speed trannies just about.

I guess we'll see how the RSX does. The NSX hasn't seemed to have any big problems with this. Some of those drivers are very hard on their cars.

Would not an s2000 be a good comparison here? It has had major issues. Honda/Acura has already issues a "denial form" for people complaining about the 1-2 synchro issue with the RSX. go do a search on clubrsx.com

---CHECK THAT OUT. if you think we're the only one with problems, then I don't know what to think.
I mean there are people starting petitions ............ 2 + pages of results on ONE webforum.
We're not alone in this battle that's for sure.

My understanding of the RSX problem was something not right from the factory. Kind of like something was fitting right. It didn't seem like a wear issue. The GTS problem seems to be a premature wear issue. Either way, it looks like car companies are going to take a while to get this one worked out. Any issues with the new Tib?

I agree. I think that car makers are having a tough time putting these "new" close ratio 6 speeds with high revving four bangers. The only problem I know of with the tranny in the newer eclipse is a throw out bearing..... no synchro issues there... notice they have a 5 speed.....

hehe it reminds me of what i did when i first got my car. power shifted too much and tranny went out... my second gear syncro was out but toyota decided to replace t he whole tranny... took them like a week to get the part and install
