Ground Control Coilovers

I put on my ground controls and noticed there was a squeaky noise and rocking noise.
when i assembled it i put in this order.

bumpstop, sleeve/perch, spring, spring retainer*upper* then stock upper retainer, then pillow ball mount.

was i just suppose to leave out the stock uppper spring retainer because there was no other way to tighten the nut..
