TOO much power from subs...?

Im going to redo my system setup and just install one JL 12w7... and i have a 12w3 already... basically i was curious since a 12w7 is one of the most powerful subs out there.... will it totally hide the sound from the front and rear factory speakers? Does anyone have this setup? or something simlar to it maybe someone powering 2 12's with factory speakers? is it worth just getting new front and rear speakers with a seperate amp powering the aftermarket fronts and rear?

Just using commmon since and hearing those speakers in person..i would say upgrade/power up those front speakers..

I am curious why you would mix and match the 2 12s. What amp are you using also. The W7s run at 3ohms so I am curious how thats going to turn out since the 1000/1 jl amp is the only one I know of runnin the same ohms.

You just tone down the subs to match the fronts. The W7 are nice subs, but how much power are you putting to them? Remember this; the box is more important than the sub or the amp powering the sub!!!

Hey I had one 12W7 in my car and the factory highs were decent with it. I upgraded to Alpine Type-Rs and it made a huge difference. If your going to power that sub give it a JL Audio 1000/1. Thats what I had. Great setup. RMS on the 12W7 is 750 watts. Also the sub actually runs at something like 2.65 ohms.....

^go to the 12W7 and click on the PDF data sheet and look. it says 2.47 ohms
