It just comes down to a matter of taste. For instance:

If you like that Kaminari kit, you have taste.

If you like that Veilside kit, you do not. I can't imagine what kind of person would put that on their car. I really can't. Like, seriously. :)

Depends....

If you are Batman, get the Veilside,

if you are normal, get the Kaminari;)

Seriously though, the Veilside sides are ok, but the front is just too out there. While I do want to turn heads, I want to do it for the right reason.

I don't want people to look at my car and think "WTF did that guy do to his car?"

I want people to look and appreciate it for its aggressive, but slightly understated appeal.

Bottom line though - get what YOU like - its personal preference (and YOUR money), so get something you can live with - just keep in mind that you may want to sell your car in the future (God forbid), and you don't want to turn people away with a body kit that is too wild.

Just my 2 cents

Please. Back that up without using their sales literature.

Or rather, legendary to whom? The racing striped, one wiper, ghetto wheels riceboy crowd? They have their own legends?

If VS does anything significant at all, it sure doesn't show up in their products. The only things I saw for sale for sale on their site were ugly wheels, ugly kits, steering wheels, mirrors, oh, and exhaust systems. Legendary tuners indeed.
"Wheels offer more to your car than just looks. The optimal height, width, & weight can result in excellent handling characteristics required in highly tuned cars. VeilSide wheels are built for performance." From their site. I guess by highly tuned, they mean "equipped with one of our kits". Built for performance? Not at 27lbs they aren't. This company is a joke.

I swear to god I'm gonna start a kit company one day, because there has to be a ton of money in it. There certainly doesn't seem to be a lot of design costs. Veilside did that one stupid, rediculous combat design and cashed in on the tasteless ostentation of the "show scene" for years. I just need one design, drawn up with enough swoops, scoops, and louvers, and I too can be a ricer legend.

Putting a veilside kit on an otherwise nice car is like dressing like a pimp to go to your office job. You're gonna turn heads alright...

I so agree with Msilvia. How did that company become a legend? Everything they make is ugly except the kit for the RX7 and Celica. The wheels of the RX7 in the FnF are ugly as hell. I know they are rare, but come one, they're ugly as sin. I'm sure the quality of their kits are good, but they sure are ugly.

jotan,

I think you're a bit too quick to call me ignorant.

Also, I'm pretty sure you're wrong about that Skyline. It's indisputably a great achievement. But, as I understand it, it won a contest at the Option Speed Trials in NZ to determine the fastest domestic, street legal, under 5 liter car. So, no, the "ferrari or lambo, v-12 vipers" of the world weren't invited to that crowning. It put out 1300hp and ran, I think, a 346.2kmh top speed, which is roughly 215mph. Impressive, but not a world record of all cars, or even all street-legal cars. I believe the McLaren runs beyond 220 out of the box.

Read my post again. I said, "...it sure doesn't show up in their products." I don't care if Veilside made a great Skyline. They financed it by selling ricer crap. That skyline is a nifty machine, but what they sell to you and me is garbage. And judging by the nonsense on their site, they really don't think much of their customers' IQs or knowledge of how to tune their cars.

You see that new FILA Ferrari Shoe (http://www.fila.com/feature.jhtml;jsessionid=IHV3UMKZQYGSHTCHHUBSFEQ?c ontentId=60700149)? We can all agree Ferrari is a legendary company, without needing to bring up their long history. That aura extends to their street cars because they are similarly amazing.

But that doesn't mean you should deify a ****ing shoe just because FILA put a prancing horse on it.

Know what I mean?

"show seen" huh? does kaminari have a 1000bhp sub 10second supra? no. does kaminari have extensive involvement with motorsports? no. but veilside does, they tuned it with their own parts. what makes veilside so cool is that in a world of japanese tuning where everything was soo fuctional rather than esthetics, they were the first ones to make these radical design kits. So thats what them so legendary. if the image was degraded by north american copies, thats not their fault. they deliver high quality goods, expensive, but they rule.

that was a street record. you try running a mclaren f1 on tarmac in terrible condition in new zealand, in the middle of no where. they would flip and blow up. if u put veilside on an oval with the right gearing it would hit over 400km/h. look at the jun supra. it hit 401km.h in the desert. ricer crap huh? who else makes titanium exhausts? veilside makes complete engines, sequential transmissions, suspensions, elecronics, throttle bodies. i don't see ricer wings west and kaminari doing that stuff, instead i see demos cars with big stickers and that doesn't go fast and can't turn. come on man give it break.

http://www.veilsidejpn.com/drs11.jpg 9.8seconds
http://www.veilsidejpn.com/drr3.jpg 8.7seconds
no nitrous.

besides, ferraris, mclarens are just like modified supras and skyline in that they are not built for everyday driving, not produced in a mass scale. u can't tune ferraris and mclarens to the extend japanese cars go, because they are already maximised and optimised.

P.S the mclaren did 220 with a derestricted revlimiter which makes it not stock.

Kaminari, I agree with the majority here, the veilside is just plain wacky looking. But thats just my opinion.

jotan82-is that car susposedly the fastest street car in the world because of veilside parts on it, or is it fast becasue of other companies performance parts on it. I mean, just because a company with a big buget buys a car, puts their kit and wheels on it, and modifies it with other manufactures parts to promote the "go fast" veilside image, it still doesn't say a whole lot about Veilside being a legend, just a good promoter.

i have to say that the Kam kit is one of the nicest kits out. it keeps all the lines nicely and is not too aggressive. but IMHO, the Veilside is THE jaw dropper/show stopper! if you got that kit on your car it say that your big timin' in. if i had the endz its is what i would want on my car. didnt you ever see something that you thought was just pure beauty and for that moment everything seemed to slow down while you soaked it up?! to me.. thats the Veilside..

.. just a side note. ill probably getting the Kam kit soon.

Plain&Simple
04-16-2002, 01:40 PM
The kaminari kit is classic...i wouldn't mind getting it but it sure is not my first choice. I only thing that bothers me is the side skirts and that it is to simple. The veilside on the other hand is extraordinary. It has the best rear and side spoilers for the celica. It is the front that is ticking me off. But also after the release of the trial kit...im thinking twice about veilside. Right now im contemplating between veilside and trial.

chameleon
04-16-2002, 02:46 PM
Hmmm, contemplating between the Trial and the Veilside, eh? Interesting choices coming from a guy who's screen name is "plain and simple", LOL!

Sorry, I just thought is was soo ironic that I had to point it out. What can I say, I'm sort of a geek so I find thoes types of things humorous ;)

If you are going for uniqueness, you cant go wrong with either of those two kits, they are both really rare. So if you want to stand out, I'm sure that you would be happy with either of them.
