View Full Version : WCT Turbo Kit Includes...?

Why doesn't it include a BOV or downpipe/hi-flow cat? These would be nice. I would assume that once the Celica is turbo, that either a replacement hi-flow cat or just a straight pipe would be beneficial in additional power gains. So, once the kit is released, I'll probably need a BOV, cat, necessary gauges, etc. Anything else that I didn't mention?

Are you still going to make a custom turbo kit for your Celi? If so, any news about that? If you decide to do this, please keep us updated about your progress.

Hey! Be nice :)
The kit will have a BOV and downpipe, so I'm not quite sure what you mean, but that downpipe will bolt to the stock center pipe, not be replaced with a new pipe.
For those who aren't interested in CARB certs, I would anticipate a more efficient center pipe / cat combo or even a straight pipe will be offered shortly after the release of the kit.
As for updates, we've still got our noses in the Spyder, and will for the remainder of the week, so no Celi updates for another week or so.
Sorry guys :(

Ok, thanks. I just didn't see those things listed under the components section on the Turbo info. page. BTW: What kind of BOV?

Would I be better off getting a BOV from a 1st gen Eclipse?

or you could spend 180 and get a nice greddy type s BOV

Exactly! We'll have an option to upgrade to a better BOV (at an additional cost of course), so you wouldn't get stuck paying for the cheapee one.
The cheap one is, by the way, a Bosch. They cost me roughly $25.
They're effective, and not too loud, and overall are a good candidate for a stock-sounding BOV, but I know many will want to upgrade.
Very much like the intercooler. Smaller as stock, bigger as an option.

Deal! :D But I'm not taking your money till it's perfect, so you're just going to have to wait a little while longer... :(
Sorry bro, I want it done more than anyone on this board (really!), but I'm not going to rush it at the expense of having a good design.
I'm sure most of you remember the pics from January....That was a complete kit. All the piping was done, but I didn't like the way the manifold was coming together, which is why I don't like the kit coming out of Van Nuys.
Preliminary pics show them cutting the center pipe. That's over $1000 list :AF: So, I think it's worth doing some redesigning to keep that intact.
But soon Beto!

David,
Can't you get a centerpipe fabricated for much cheaper at a muffler shop, or is there more to it than that?

The centerpipe has the catalytic converter built into it, so in order to pass smog, you've got to leave it alone.
Also, if someone wanted to remove the kit for some reason, it would be much harder to do if you had to have a muffler shop remove the downpipe and weld in a flange for the exhaust manifold....it may not seal as well....it adds cost to the install/removal of the kit....and if the downpipe were to crack for some reason, you're back to the shop to cut and weld instead of just replacing a bolt-on piece.
Lots of reasons not to tweak that....

Boy, that's REALLY silly of Toyota to do that. Catalytic converters should be made to be easily removed and replaced. That built-in catalytic converter means when these cars get old and need new catalytic converters, it'll cost a $hitload of cash to replace it.

damn...reading about turbos is starting to depress me.......i mean i been patient too....but it seems like its gonna be awhile and might as well wait longer...i was just wondering...roughy how long do u guys thing the internal would last before replacing parts caused by the wear and tear of the turbo??
one more thing....i just like to say i am jealous of the MR S guys cuz they already have a turbo and they are gonna get another one....damn somehow i feel as though thas unfair...but then again...i feel even worse for the GTS guys.....
