View Full Version : Water Injection?

Hey guys, I just wanted your thoughts on how well water injection prevents predetonation and what boost levels I can run at w/ it. I know I read somewhere that Soceur(I think it was him, maybe not) fried a piston or something at like 11.5 or 12 psi on stock internals. I was planning on running at 9 or 10 psi w/ the water injection, stock GT internals, would that be safe or do you think there could be problems down the road?

i think you will be fine at 9psi with water injection. im running the snowperformance water injection kit.

ive been thinking about doing this aswell. how hard is the install? i assume, not very?

I'm not sure how hard the install is, I'd imagine you'd have to tap into the intake manifold kind of like a direct port nitrous setup? Exotic, how hard was the install, and am I correct in my line of thinking? Also, I was going to go with the Aquamist, but is snowperformance better? What psi are you running at?

Aquamist has been around longer so is a little more trusted. From the people who have snow performance they say it is just as good though so either one sounds fine. Aquamist is a little more expensive. Make sure you think about what mix you want your car to be tuned for because in the winter the water will freeze unless you put some methanol in with it.

Hmmm I never thought about the water freezing, good point....I'm probably going to go with the aquamist and have my car tuned at 10 psi, and have the water injection activate a little before full boost. What would you recommend I do in the winter? If I add methanol, which I will have to do, will I have to tune differently? Or can I just add enough to keep the water from freezing? I'm a little confused as to how I get around the problem of the water freezing, seeing as how the Aquamist system is purely water, no methanol. On the other hand, snowperformance is water/methanol, so maybe I should go with that....I just don't know

I am still looking into it myself but here is a good forum for it http://www.aquamist.co.uk/phpBB2/ . Both aquamist and snow performance can use methanol and water. Its just what you decide to put in. You will want to consider what kind of mixture you are willing to use. If you are willing to use methanol with water the entire year then you can have a tune that allows you to get more horsepower out. But if you are just wanting to use water (distilled), then when you use methanol (or something so it doesnt freeze) you wont be taking advantage of it horsepower wise. Someone please correct me if what I said was wrong.

ok, so if I got the aquamist system I could, say, do a 50/50 mixture in the reservoir and have it tuned for that and run it all year. Does this sound feasible?

50/50 mix is usually the best mix.. i have my pressure switch come on at 5psi

:werd: I would suggest a 50/50 mix as well for year round use....just tune that way.
