I wanna shop around for the LED's necessary to change the guage color in the dash, but I'm not exactly sure what I should be looking for. Could someone explain to me the dimensions, ratings, etc. that the replacement LED's need to have for a successful conversion?

Thanks in advance,

You want 1206 size, rear mount LED's. They should be 3mm long and about 1.2 tall. The rear mount ones have the connectors bent down to stick through the holes in the circuit board.

are you sure they are rear mount? I thought they just have to be soldered on top of the gauge dash....

I looked up the ones used on this page

http://www.celicagarage.citymax.com/page/page/46633.htm

They are rear mount. Haven't done it yet, so the surface mount ones may work as well.

Just so you guys know, you are looking for a 3.0mm x 2.0mm surface mount LED. They are kind of hard to find, and kind of expensive to buy. The 1206 will work, but, it's not an exact replacement.

I have been doing the local guy's Celi's over at TeamCelica (http://www.teamcelica.com) in red, blue, and even green.

I am working on getting more blue led's as we speak, but I do have as many green and red LED's as anybody would need, so, if you need some help, drop me a line at thehammer@teamcelica.com

I've had the LCD done for a while now, but, I just got done with this, see if you like: <br>

One more question:
Anyone know what the four silver things are around where the needles mount? I'm thinking they are some sort of bigger LEDs that illuminate the needles.

If you are talking about the 4 silver mounts that look like a diamond on the left and a square on the right, that's where the actual needle assemblies mount to the board, and calibrate. Those aren't LED's, and you don't want to take them off.... Just so you know.

There are no holes n the circuit board for LED leads to go through, it is all surface mount for these puppies. I suspect the leads would make life a little bit easier to fit them if your not too handy with the soldering iron.

Also all the LEDs are one size.

So what is the model number for that 3.0 x 2.0??
I guess 1206 is the 3.0 x 1.2.....

1206 size are easy to find and have dimensions of 3.2x1.6mm, I've had a harder time locating ones that actually have the 3.0x2.0 configuration. I got the 1206 idea from this page, where that's what the guy used:

http://www.celicagarage.citymax.com/page/page/46633.htm

I just did some more digging, and I found that the 3.0x2.0 LED are 1208 size. At least that's what Nichia calls them. These are the blue LED's you'd find on the Celi-Club UK site.

Is there difference in 1206 and 1208??
Maybe brightness?? I would prefer 1208 if it is brighter then 1206...
