I'm thinking of buying a set of "Bass shakers (http://www.aurasound.com/bassshaker/images/spec/ast_3b_4_a.jpg) ," which are basically little boxes which act as subwoofers, but without the sound. They attach to the seats, and produce "felt" sound. Anyone have experience with this type of thing? There is a similiar product for home theaters called "Buttkickers".

Sounds like a waste of money to me. Just buy subs and get sound and shaking.

I have that exact same set of bass shakers in a box in my basement. Unless you are planning on doing a TON of work, don't bother with them for a car. But a nice sub and bolt that bad boy to the car, and you'll get all the vibration you need.

My old 12W7 shook my seats pretty well.

I already have a sub, but I figured that these might be a way to get thumping bass, without annoying everyone else around me.

With the amount of bass my system kicks, I ditched the vibrators LOL. I just go for a ride HAHHA. Just kidding. Just get a nice system setup that'll kick out lots of bass. Watch out though, I've ruined 2 gas doors now...broke the hinges off. I'm going to use rivets soon and do a custom "fit" for the gas door. it's going to be "indented" a little.

Yeah.... you'd have to fab some sort of fiberglass or MDF mount for them that would affix to either the bottom or back of the seats, right? Back of the seats wouldn't be too practicle if you want passengers, so you'd be stuck with the bottom of the seats.

why don't you just get a set of seat massagers and install them in the bottom and back rest of the seats. Wire them up to vibrate when the bass hits. kinda like the "light dancers" that turn on when only when certain frequencies are reached. Just my $0.02

Because those vibrate at only 1 to 3 (or whatever) set frequencies... and I doubt those will happen to coincide with the key of the song you're playing.
The bass shakers produce a much more intense feeling and they do it in tune with the music you're playing.

seems like a dumb idea to me.

It's an awesome idea if you have them installed properly and have enough processing on them. And when I say enough, I mean the H701 processor I currently used had another black box to assist in making it all sound correct.
