for those who may not know, this is how many launches the stock clutch can take in succession in lift...and for those that may not know, that was my best internet impression of the count from sesame street...humor me...btw, ACT clutch is in, that's how I know, heeheehee

i think i know what he's talkin about, the subject he is 'trying' to impersonate the count from sesame street, and apparently he's saying that the gts can only handle 4 6k+ launches on the stock clutch

but ive had 5 7k launches on drag radials and 10 5500 rpm launches on street tires this past weekend, clutch seems fine to me

i think he launched at 6k rpms 4 times before the clutch went... he did this because he just got his act clutch in and didn't care what happened to the stock one...

If you wreck your clutch, you can get it replaced under warantee. But what if you want them to use a non-stock clutch, and perhaps replace the flywheel non stock at the same time? Would that still do the labour on warantee, or would you have to pay for the labour?

I have never heard of a dealership replacing a clutch for free unless it was defective.....

But they don't replace clutches under warranty for normal wear and tear. You had special cases both times that required warranty work on it.

what the hell? i said HUMOR ME...yes that's exactly what I'm saying...the stock clutch only took 4 6000 RPM launches before it turned to mush...This is the second trans I have had in the car, and I don't think the clutch would normally be replaced under warranty, they just replace the entire trans. at least from my experience.

Why in the hell are you launching from 6k? I have had tons of launches from 4000-4500 with no problems. If you rev to 6k you want to dump the clutch and smoke the tires off. And if your running N2O your gonna need to upgrade the clutch much much sooner. That's a no brainer.

But most of what your saying doesn't make any sense. If you toast your clutch your tranny isn't wasted per say. But by the sounds of it being on your second trans sounds like you have no idea how to drive a manual. Like many of us I have dumped the clutch from 6k many times with no problems. And the car will not rev to 7k without it in gear and rolling as the rev limiter drops to 6750. If the tires spin while in gear and rolling the rev limiter will lower again to 6750.

the car will rev up 7k without it rolling, unless my tach is off, but i tested it with riceboykiller i reved up to revlimiter while stationary and it hit 7k

Luis,

He's calling you out kid. He just said you can't drive:chuckles:

As for the tach at 7k parked, this is true for Papi's car.

I dont think he's talkin bout me, i think he's talkin bout wataryd, according to the 1/4 mile database i've got the best 60' and that was with a 7k dump

in regard to the first trans, the previous owner abused it...further, it's not that i can't drive, i just didn't care what happened to the clutch there sparky, ACT Street Clutch, trying patiently to wait on a helical LSD from KAAZ, and debating about the Fidanza...it's cool though, what's halfway between PA and GA? We will meet at a track there, and I won't even spray...GAME?

In all honesty I was just out messin around whenever my clutch came in, and so I dunno what's up but my stocker only handled 4 6k RPM launches one after the other
