Just a question on the Hypermotive bar regarding the design of it. I have the TRD 3pt bar and they have a pretty simlar desgin. However, the best selling point of the HM bar is the easy detatchable for trunk space.

Now, the design of the HM bar is to extend the connecting point. The center has supporting bars in the middle to stiffen the bar and the middle part is very strong no doubt about that. But by extending the connecting point with a plate, that will increase the stress on those two extended plates and therefore making the stress point the each end of those two plates where it used to be a little stronger with the TRD bar when the bar is all the way to the connection point, not at the extention plate.

Wouldnt that make the bar less stronger than it was (TRD) ?

I hope I am making sense

I gottcha ;)

As far as stiffer... I dunno. My hypermotive bar is very stiff. I can push/pull on it as much as I want, any way I want, and it does not flex any considerable amount. I really like the easily removable part of it though. I have had to take it out to haul some larger things before and I am glad I had that option.

well thats kinda hard to say, the connection points that allow it to dettach are really well thought out. if you look , there is a wide plate that is held by two bolts each. but if i had to say which one was stiffer i'd probably say the TRD. I'm pretty sure the dettaching points do take away stiffness from the struture because its not a one peice but not sure how much.
