I changed my winter tires yesterday and while tightening the special wheel nut it broke on me. Now I don't know how to remove it, since the top is stripped pretty bad.
As if that wasn't enough bad luck, when tightening one of the other nuts, I noticed it wasn't giving any resistance. I turned it a few times, and the nut came off... with the screw in it!!!
In other words, the part that's attached to the brake disk actually broke. I didn't force it or anything, so I'm wondering if this could be a manufacturing weakness or something like that. It's not like I should be able to break one of those things with my bare hands!
My question is: do you think this will be covered by Toyota? I'm thinking probably not, since I did the work myself, but at the same time if it's a manufacturing defect it should be... Also, if they change one of the disks, do they have to change the one on the other side also?
