Why? Detune??

Hey guys, anyone from Aus will notice this, most of the Japanese car got DETUNE when they arrive to AUS
For example:
Integra DC5 (jap version is 220 ps and Aus version is 200ps)
and silvia S15 (jap vsersion is 250 ps and Aus version is 200ps)

why did the factory do this kind of action?
is it because it's under the law from Australia Transport department?

Different local climate conditions and more importantly, different fuel octane ratings. Highest octance rated fuel you could by is 98 RON (ie BP Ultimate 98, Shell Optimax and Mobil Synergy 8000) from any metropolitation petrol station. RON stands for research octanae number. Most domestic cars in Japan run on 100+ RON due to more abundant availability of higher octane fuel. Therefore they can produce more power in Japanese spec.
