your HU is not connected to a constant 12V source. The wire that is blue with the yellow stripe is constant 12V.

you can always get a voltmeter and test for a constant source. But that's most likely your problem

Resurrecting this thread just for clarification.
Installed a headunit last night. Turns on but settings do not get saved. I just have a little confusion to what color wires the HU red & yellow wires onto the stock wiring.
Thanks!

THANKS!
And just checking: no more than 2 amps/crossovers/etc connected to a single remote? I read that somewhere in this search.

Problem: did the yellow/blue - red & yellow - gray connections. Settings still arent being saved. Radio turns on & off though like it should.
EDIT: Blue/yellow is memory; gray is 12v.

Yeah, everythings working now. It's just that yellow goes to blue/yellow & red goes to gray. And, yes, I did discover somewhere along the way that the radio fuse in the passenger side box was out & needed replacing.
I should have just looked at larryd's wiring FAQ.
Thanks again.
Bassakwards damn radio.... red is usually battery... yellow is usually switched... so much for standards....
