Let them trash talk all they want, even though their vette's are modded up with turbo/supercharger, it will all depends if ur a good driver.

yea i know they can probly do better but our cars would be able to handle them as well with mild suspension mods, right?

those guys are dip****s....they are going out and spending 50K on c-5's and 20K on used c4's then turning around and bragging about beating 15K-25K cars. Not much of an accomplishment. If anyone started bragging about how they beat a dx civic with a GT-S no one would give two ****s, but these assholes go out and get high performance cars and brag about being faster than a 20K civic. If I put 30K into my GT-S all for performance, any stock c-5 would be destroyed. Their arguement is full of ****.

a couple of those guys seem to know what they're talking about. Most are just too convinced that they can outdrive anything on the road. Hell, I'm a good driver but I'm definately not a pro. I've driven a new 911 turbo on twistier roads than that getting up to about 130 without even beginning to lose traction. Its the same argument as the c5 beating a stock civic si from '93. Who gives a sh!t? Most of them on that board have probably never ridden in or driven a ITR, GT-S / GT, 911, whatever... they are ignorant bastards.

Well, it looks like there are one or two people over there with an open mind towards the performance of other cars. The rest of them really need to get off the high horse and open their eyes.
Maybe I should go over there and post some autocross times from Sunday that show how many Corvettes I beat. ;)

those roads are wicked, i wanna test my car on those roads, and test my limits of my suspension mods.
I wonder how a Celica would stand up to that on hotchkistuning full suspension upgrade.

they beat a dx civic with a GT-S
I talk about that, then again i drive an auto. But what, how dare they call our cars an econo box, i'll be posting over there.

"Ok... let's see.. we'll have to use Car and Driver for consistency... but here are some numbers...
The test: emergency lane change maneuver..
Hyundai Tiburon GT V-6.... 69.9mph
Acura RSX.. 71.1
Volkswagen Beetle Turbo.. 69.4
Toyota Celica GT-S... 74.3
2001 Corvette.. 73.8
And as far as lateral g's... the Vette averages 0.85-.90 and the imports listed do slightly lower (except for the Toyota... it's equal)."
HEHE! Stick that in your small block POS!

I love my car, but I love a 350!
True, a C5 could destroy our cars (handling-wise...not worth it to talk speed-wise), especially the Z06 with a latteral G of 1.00, but most of the guys that bad mouth our 4's have the C4's, which I give no respect to when it comes to handling. Damn I want to stuff a 350 in my trunk!!! :D

hehe. I thought about doin' that. Easy way to get a rwd Celi
Or put ANOTHER 2zz in the back :monkey:
fwd is the only problem with the Celica, you give it awd man it could be a world-class. I almost regret not spending my money on an all-trac.

first of all why is celica mentioned in their along the level of a civic?? I don't think you could consider a GTS a ricer.
And 2nd.
I assumed that our cars have better handling than any of those vettes or any domestics? isn't it true?
The weight of the domestic cars kills handling doesn't it?

I wouldn't call a civic a ricer either. The Celica is an economy coupe, though also a great performer. "Econobox" shouldn't really be a stigma here.

It's certainly a factor, but no, it doesn't kill it. I would imagine a C5 would outhandle a Celica by a wide margin. It's an incredible machine. Also, like they pointed out on the vette forum, most of the best handling cars in the world are a hair north of 3000lbs.
Weight can be a huge advantage when the differences are great enough. I wonder how a stock elise would do against a Vette around those curvy rural two-lanes. Or a well-modified MR2 Spyder?
Really, though, what they should have faced in the vette forum was that the driver is the most important part of the equation as soon as turns are introduced. A better driver with a lesser car will usually win.

I used to respect the Corvette and it's community.........until about 15 minutes ago.
Yes, the NEW Corvettes will leave us, and just about everything else on the road, and are an outstanding value, but what is with the attitude! The early C4s, especially the 84, wasn't exactly outstanding. In fact, until the C5 came out, I really had little interest in them at all. There sure are a lot big egos out there........

you guys complain of closemindedness but then some of yuo post the same ****.
most corvette owners are middleaged men and women guys, they were born before the import craze nd shouldn't know much about what your cars can do. the younger generation is just a bunch of spoiled SOB's if they own that type of car in their early 20's anyways.
either way, who cares? its like a ferrari owner talking **** about cobra's, i coudl care less...cars werent designed in the same market segment AT ALL.
First of all those guys are full of ****e!!!! And full of themselves...
I'm going on there to set some things straight.... My Celica did a 1.04g...... So I know my car can hang on those roads... It's not even that twisty to be honest.... I can't even count how many
C-5's we passed on our last track day event... It all goes to show that speed and power isn't the only thing....

Remember, this is the SAME forum that couldn't admit that some guy with a built, 12-13 sec Honda beat one of their members in his C5, even with the evidence THEY posted....
Just let those losers go....

I can't seem to find a 2002 Supra anywhere at any Toyota dealership..
let it go..Corvettes are fast, just accept it.

You don't need to get a 2002 Supra maybe they stopped making them but I beat the C5 can't beat the 93-98 Supra and they cost less.

I don't know what you guys are talking about.
Did any of you even read the posts that the corvette owners made?
There was only 2 guys saying that Corvette's are superior and everyone else was actually defending imports. One guy actually said that he thought a modded Civic could keep up with his Vette! How many people on this site would admit that a modded Civic could keep up with their GTS? And you all flame them for being ignorant bastards, go back and actually read their posts. Most of them seemed really cool and made some good points to try and defend imports. Respect is a two way street...

saying you have a "better" car is like having a pissing contest.
what matters is that you enjoy your car no matter how fast or slow it is.
the faster you go, the less reliable you get.
id rather have a nice looking, quick good sounding reliable fun car that i dont have to wo rry about breaking or wrecking in with my fairly new driver skills.
i like my car :)

very true now i know someone here is not bias and have patience/less temper
C5, C5R and Z06 are great cars(the rest vette? pweh). that C4 guy is just a ignorant man w/ no knowledge. i doubt if he even know what does "rice" mean anyway. or even to say that he knows how to handle the cornering, and how every different car performe. so relax, you are watching a f a g trying to show off.

Slasher: I would bet the farm on that bud. The Supra is considered one of the very top performance cars in the world!!!
Anyway. I have researched this thing a few weeks ago. And I looked into just what cars are considered the best performing cars. Going off of race track times from various tracks around the world. And considering that at the track your car must steer, brake, salom, accelorate, and perform well in the skidpad to equal the fastest lap times. The tests were usually peformed by the same driver at the same track.
Here is what I commonly saw as the top four cars:
Porsche 911TT or the Acura NSX were usually on top, Supra TT, which was either 1,2, or 3 in times. And the Lamboghini Diablo VT was always in the top 5. Unfortunately the Corvette was regularly a back marker which usually made the top ten. Others that regularly placed higher were many ferraris, jaguar, RX7 to name a few.
The C4 vettes were anything but barn burners in the turns or the straights. They were quick and good handling, yes. But definately nothing that I couldn't take out with ease on a road course or some twisties. Even a Stock GT-S should be able to take an 80's C4. The C5 is a much better handling car and a lot faster. But on a road course or some twisties. Like J.C. said a modded Celica can still whip up. Pulling 1.04 g's is something even the mightly Z06 can look up to. HP is nothing if you can't put it to the ground. It's hard to find any vehicles tha stops shorter than a Celica GT-S unless it's made by Prosche.

You get this stuff on every board you goto. People are always going to jump to the defense of their car, its what they have probably shelled a load of their cash into.
BTW, if those guys heard how critics consider vettes over here, they wouldnt be holding onto them for long.
So, I start to register.... Type in J.C. as the username, etc., etc...
Type in that I work for Hotchkis right....!!!! Waiting for registration code to come back..!! AND BAAAMMMMM...... Hotchkis was denied.. I re register again under another name.... It goes through...!!! WWWWWTTTTTTTFFFFFFFF..... Ahhhhhhhhh, I think some one is a little scared of J.C. and all the facts that he has regarding suspension..... Just pissed me off cause I was denied because of the company name.... The also told me that if I wanted to use the name I had to be an "ADVERTISED SPONSOR"..:fawk: :bang: Iwas like dude !!! But I'm J.C........
I don't think they know what J.C. stands for....:applaud:

what DOES jc stand for exactly? :D
don't worry, i posted, and mentioned your 1.04g skidpad celica...nobody said anything after that. one guy gave props and said the celicas were a step in the right direction. coming from guys who were previously saying no import fwd economy car should even be modded, and everyone should buy used domestics :)

It's just a few bad eggs. But they gotta realize many many! domestic owners refer to rice as any import. Not just stickered up coffee can, egg plant shootin, Civic DX's with a aluminum foil wing on the back. So naturally we are up in arms. You wouldn't believe some of the threads I have read from domestic forums. It is enough to make my blood boil. Where many times the members truely believe it would take nothing short of a miracle to loose to ANY import.
