A couple of days ago lift in my GTS would not work and I'm trying to figure out exactly what the problem is.
Anyone know what part or parts that make lift go bad? any accel sensors? cylinder head? engine problem? clutch? fuse? oil pressure problem? mafs?

If your car has less than 60,000 miles and it is less than 5 years old, they better do something about it. Does it not even engage? What is it doing? If your dealer doesn't want to do anything about it, call Toyota of America and complain that your car has runability problems and your dealer is refusing to fix it.

I have called Toyota America and all they do is call the dealership and ask if there is a problem and they say no. Does anyone have a case number that I could use as reference to this problem? Or what dealership fixed your lift problem? Thanks for your help!

hmmm, the 800 number didn't even help you? Try another dealership and see if they will help you. There have been a few people with this problem, ask in the General Discussion portion of the board.

I have had my car to 3 different dealerships and all they do is run the scan tool and a stall test. Then they call me and say that it's fixed and it's not. I had to take off my cai and exhaust before they would even check me into the service department. It almost seems like they are trying to cover up a problem with my engine. I don't think that Toyota is ready for the VVTL-i technology, none of the service guys know anything about it. The master tech told me that I shouldn't rev the car past 5000 rpm. He said it was dangerous. I was like what the @#!k. Why did I buy the GT-s then. When I told them that I wanted my payments cut down to the price of the GT they started getting salty. But I shouldn't have to pay for the GT-s if all I'm getting is a GT. I mean come on the other day I got waxed by a neon... a neon come on. The whole time I was just praying for lift to engage and every gear it didn't.

Wow that is really bad. 3 dealerships wouldn't fix your problem? I really wouldn't suggest doing this, but the only thing I can think of is that you mis-shift your car on purpose, then they would be forced to rebuild your engine. But I would strongly advise you not do that.

A yeah considering that they can tell that you mis-shifted and then make you pay for it. I made another appoitment for them to take a look at it. With the info from the forum I think I might be able to make them fix it.

Every time I hear about this problem it's the "cylinder head gasket". Never seen one myself but that's what it is :D
