Sports Shocks?

A friend of mine was admiring my GT-S (of course) and suggested that I install sports-shocks for the following reasons:
1) better handling (but bumpier ride)
2) Looks . . . the car sits lower, thus the tires/wheels fill the wheel-well with less gap (ergo, looks cool)

Opinions please?

Struts/shocks won't lower the car. Springs do that, but you can only go down to 1.5" safely. They'll stiffen the suspension up a bit, keeping the car more level in turns, but shouldn't hurt ride comfort too much.
