I'm really new to this so excuse the question. I was wondering at what rpm is it best to shift from L to 2, and 2 to D? I haven't quite figured out which gets the best results, and im getting pretty tired of losing in races so im trying to learn anything possible, plus this is new to me.

I'm pretty sure manually shifting in the GT auto is bad for the longevity of the tranny.

Wrong. It's just kicking off manually the same actions that would happen if the tranny "decided" when to shift.
I would imagine redline shifts would be best. Isn't that what it does with the pedal to the floor?

I got a auto GT I try to redline everytime but the rev limiter kicks in at about 6500-6700. So i shift when it bounces of the limiter.
