My special lady friend has a '03 Celica GT. We were going to go for the GT-S, but the closest one to her house was a distance. I'm currently in Iraq but have quite a bit of technical know-how. I have done work on my old All Track (5th gen), MR2 Turbo (MKII) and a 2g Eclipse GSX. So... she wants more oomph to her engine, and the 1zzfe doesn't have horrible compression, as a matter of fact, it's pretty good to range out for a turbo. Especially if some forged pistons and other compression lowering equipment were added. 'Nuff about that crap... she can't drive stick and refuses to learn, so her car is automatic. Not always a bad thing, boost doesn't drop when nuetral is hit between gears, that's definately a benefit... but... most auto trannies aren't designed to handle the same kinda' power the manual ones are. Does anyone have any idea how much the 1zzfe auto tranny can handle? HP to the crank that is. I greatly appreciate your knowledge on this.

i think i remember someone saying around 250 being the limit on the auto tranny. just spend a little bit more money and get a level ten torque converter and you shouldn't have any problems.

trade that car in and get something else...GT autos are just crap...ok if thats not an option then do the auto/manual swap...if thats not an option then do the level ten work...www.levelten.com 1ZZ's can only handle about 12 psi safely..the rods are skimpy...

It is true that the 1zz wasn't designed for power. Weaker rods and pistons are proof of that. However, due to a better compression ratio for forced induction, there is a good chancd that given the chance, they could be very powerful cars. As far as the auto goes, don't forget that MANY of the MKIV Supra's (some of the most sought after cars in the world) were auto. Why you ask? Well, you don't lose the back pressure when you change gears in an auto. Granted, the 1zz is not the power plant of a Supra. However, don't count it all the way out. I'm looking into the level ten information you gave me and I greatly appreciated it. Also, what are the internals of the 1zz rated up to? And which parts go first? I have seen some 12.* second 1zz's, but they use the manual tranny. Thanks for the info!

Do you know what sites have the best rates on those items? Thanks for the info again!

Get a tranny cooler as well when you install the torque converter. You can check with Transgo and see if they have a racing shift kit. Also, if you replace your pistons and rods, the block will handle up to 26psi.

www.monkeywrenchracing is the only shop that i know of thats sells the big bore kit...Its sleeves, CROWER (not Crowler) Rods, and Wiseco pistons...better yet, just buy the short block from MWR, then it will have all the machine work done for you...
