I ordered my basics and they are on the way as we speak. Now, my mechanic desides to tell me that tein shocks are pretty **** in fact when it comes to colder weather, and that they will seize really quickly.

Anyone beg to differ.....please

:monkey: By the way weather here can reach the -25F in winter.

I've been doing some research on Teins as well, and all the instances I;ve seen in Calgary of daily driven vehicles produces serious rust on the springs, body and height adjuster. From what I understand, the coils are just not designed for winter driving. You would probably be worse of in Montreal than Calgary too since Montreal uses salt on city streets compared to Calgary sand.
If your car is summer only then no worries, otherwise I would step up to JICs, as I understand they are muchmore rust resistant.

I don't think any part of your car was designed for -25 degree temperatures.

rust can be dealt with. Especially with a little extra grease here and there, its the seizing part i'm worried about.

it's not the weather.... it's the salt in winter roads that corrodes everything..

Obviously I was kidding.

-25F is about 95 degrees colder than what I'm used to.

My coilovers feel stiffer in the morning when the car is cold (cold = 55F ambient temperature). They don't absorb bumps as smoothly when they're cold. I don't know if they would seize when exposed to such cold temperatures.
