Yes that is a GTP motor stuffed into a Cavalier.... Wonder how much all that costed. That would be a great project.

can you spell torque steer boyz and girlz? look at that burnout...bet he was trying to keep it straight.

and i bet it cost as much as the car....would've been better to start w/ the base cavalier, cheaper and more sleeper. still thats pretty freaking nice

on an unrelated note ron, the charger on the gtp, can that go right on the 6 in the base camaro 97-98? or are there engine differences?

I was looking over at Car-part.com and you can get a used GTP engine and tranny for 2500+ and say another 2-4K for a base Cavalier and you've got one hell of a sleeper.

The 3800 Is the same engine but It has Lower compression and forged pistons in the GTP... The Eaton would bolt right on but i dunno if the motor could handle it.
I have seen a few Blown 3800's swapped into Base camaro's and they were close to 13's with DR's. I dunno why chevy didn't throw that engine into the base Camaro and firebird... would have kicked ass.

yeah, but don't forget the extra 3 grand to custom install an engine that size into a cavalier

gm prob didn't want the base camaro to be close to the Z28, figured no one would buy it if they could get a close performer and then up boost (which, i think is wrong, but i don't (thankfully) run GM)

I really gonna look into this. Ofcourse maybe i won't drop it in a Cavalier... Maybe i'll just drop it into a car i currently own... ie. Shadow :)

Hmm... Wonder where i can get the dimentions of the GTP engine from.

im pretty sure that its faster than a celica, but i dont think it can take a corner to well. that front end must weight alot, and i dont know if he's got the stock cav springs or what. but i think the cav will get the cel in the straight's but in the turns the cel will it eat the cav.

OMG, I met this guy during the weekly Montreal Import Fest at the Orange Julep.

Nice guy, cool car. When I first walked by I was like, woododeedoo, a Z24, then I saw the valve-cover :)

All I can saw this thing can haul ass, I got a personal demonstration of its capabilities. This guy deserves kudos for pulling this off.

One prob, his car is now crazily front-heavy. What little manuverabilibty the Z24 once had is now lost. It plows and the shocks are always bottomed out, even when she is sitting still. It's kinda funny to see the cars tires look flat even though they have 35 psi of air in them ;)
