First Gear Speed

A friend of mine said that his 2000 Celica GT-S auto can reach 50mph in first gear, using the Tiptronic mode. Is there any proof of this? I don't think it's possible.

very possible if he has a different ecu... with the stock one, impossible... this coming from an auto with tiptronic... that and i wouldn't recommend it in the auto... it's kinda gay

a 6spd GT-S will do ~42 in first, an auto GT-S has different gearing, and only 5 gears. So I'd imagine the gears are a bit taller, so it may be possible.

The Auto is a 4 speed ECT. And there is no way that you can hit that speed stock like SafeCloud said.

I drove an auto ECT '04 GT-S and it couldn't even come close to that.

Are you sure? With 4 big gears and 8000rpm, I would assume it is likely.

I can do 70 km/h roughly in first with my Auto GTS...thats 43.5 mph.

yes, 70km/h (43.75mph) is what ive got on my auto GTS first gear at 7800rpm. 50mph is not possible unless ur friend knocked out the rev limiter.
