Yeah, you wouldn't think that'd be possible, but yes, the S2000 now has 257 hp (I'm 90% sure that's the number). It's compared to the Boxster 2.7L in the new issue of EVO. The S2000 had 220 hp before, I believe. So now the VTEC engine can pump out 128 hp/L. Impressive. It got 4 stars vs. Boxster's 5 stars.

I'd hope so...for the amount of money you pay for em, thats the least they could do

Actually prior to you saying this, it's always been 240.

that's not a big deal. they probably picked at least half of it up by freeing up the breathing and other stuff.
with intake and pulleys, a GTS is close to making 205-210hp at the crank. that's like 110-115hp/liter.

I doubt you'll see that version of the S2k in the US.

compression ratio 11.0:1
and my GT-S' compression ratio is 11.4:1
GT-S have higher compression ratio and its slower? guess honda hav better technology or im wrong?
somebody explain please?

Well first off, compression ratio has nothing to do with how fast a car is.. the WRX has like an 8.5:1 or 9:1 (not sure exactly) compression ratio, and is faster than our cars too, but it is turbo after all. Higher compression ratios help NA engines produce more power, but depending on how the rest of the engine is built decides the actual numbers. The S2000 has a bigger engine than ours, a 2.0L I believe, we only have a 1.8L. The S2000 is also a much more expensive car and has been tuned a lot better than ours, and it shows by it achieving 120hp/liter. Our engine seems to make really good gains from intake and exhaust, by that it appears that toyota did a bad job designing these, but I think the real reason behind it was for insurance (the more power the car has stock the higher the insurance is generally, esp on a 2dr car.. and that is bad news for the young drivers the celica was aimed for).
Feel free to correct me on any of the above.

engine 1: 11.5:1
engine 2: 11.0:1
same everything except compression
engine 1 makes more power :)

btw, the wrx only runs that compression ratio (8:1) when there is absolutely no turbo boost. At its full 14.5psi of boost the compression ratio is 15.83:1 :)
There is much different about the F20C and the 2ZZ-GE engines. The most obvious is the differences in displacement 2.0L versus 1.8L, respectively. The F20C is also more highly tuned than the 2ZZ-GE as well. It has 1200 more rpm to play with, has larger bore:stroke ratio, I don't know the valve sizes and lift and the Honda engine is a better engine based on combustion efficiency: bmep [brake mean effective pressure] for the F20C is 189 psi vs 183 psi for the 2ZZ-GE.

can you say that Honda spent more money on s2000 engine than toyota on 2zz?

Oops, sorry I messed up on the previous 220 hp figure. BTW, i wasn't pointing this out because I was complaining that the 2ZZ wasn't making enough power. It was just an FYI

The S2000 they sold here had 249hp before.
"can you say that Honda spent more money on s2000 engine than toyota on 2zz?"
I'd say that.

Don't forget that the F20C was built in house by Honda. Where as, the 2ZZ-GE was outsourced to Yahmaha.

i went to honda the other day, and the salesman told me that they are stopping production because it was only built to celebrate honda's 50th Bday.. and the price is now 42K base!
but i dont know, this particular honda dealer is quite shadey..

yeah, shady dealer. If you are at a Honda dealer and they are charging more then $32,400 (msrp) for the S2000 new, then go somewhere else. Better yet, go to S2ki.com to find a published list of dealers who are selling it for MSRP.
