View Full Version : Got my C-One V2 CF hood

Can't wait to get it clearcoated and install it. I'm happy to report that the "under hood scoop" issue has been rectified, at least on my hood. If anyone has seen redline18's hood, you'll know what I mean.
Oh, and I highly recommend Rey_Vibora and his shop KamiSpeed. Got the hood 3 days after I paid for it and was packed very well. His communication skills and customer service is bar none.

Isn't it just UV coat? I know that's what goes into a typical CF hood. I just don't want that sunfade effect happening to this very expensive investment. :(

looks great joe ,your car has some really high end "select" parts on it now , its come along way since I first joined the boards .You've really been making some good "wise" choices for it latelly .... A CF windsheild cowl in the same weave to match would have been nice though ....

Very nice Joe!!! I would get the thing recleared just for piece of mind. I mean what is $50 or so when you have put down that kind of money for this piece. Just make sure you find a competent shop to do it. Also, you need to make sure that they are careful about spraying it because apparently some automotive clears do not like to adhere to resin very well and supposedly it will form small air bubbles when drying which rise to the surface and pop leaving a slight cratered look to the clear. Most people would never notice this but I wanted to make you aware of the possibility.

Thanks Kenny, you know you have to pay to play. But after all is said and done I still have yet to see a pic of your monster $$$ Celica yet. :D

Thanks for looking out Justin. There's a reputable shop by me that should be able to do the job. But, I'll point out what you said to them and make sure they're aware of that.

I guess what I am trying to say is make sure they do not put it too close to the heat lamps. This is what the guy that did mine told me. He actually found this out the hard way and had to go back and fix mine and there are still small places here and there but nobody has ever noticed but me, only because I know where they are at. Anyways it is worth the $50$150 investment to protect it IMO. Good luck.

So, did they install that vent cover and then open a hole out the back for air to pass straight through? That's what it appears to me, since I can see the bubble wrap behind your hood through the hood scoop on one of your pics.
Is it removable? Because although I can see the point behind this, it makes it so that your exhaust manifold does not appear to have ventilation onto it (which, as you know, the Celica has a hoodscoop that is actually functional unlike those of most cars). Looks like that thing covers everything.

In pic #5 you can see the 3 add on's to the hood. The two vents on either side (only one vent is actually vented look closely at pic #3), and in the middle is the large vent cover that protects the engine from being vandalized.
As for hoodpins, I dunno. I really don't want to. I'm going to install the hood as is, test it out, take it to high speeds and see how it fares. If it woblles too much for comfort then I'll bite the bullet and buy pins. Supposedly the hood fits so well that it doesn't require pins, and I know that redline18 is not using pins either.

The scoop does not have an exit entry coming out of the back of it. Once the hood is inatalled the air will pass through the scoop, much like the OEM, and the air will redirect itself to the back of the engine bay. The black plastic piece under the scoop itself extends out (to protect your oil cap :chuckles:) and then it curves up slightly. See pic #1 and #4. I believe that the air will direct itself up and over this piece into the back of the engine bay, much like the OEM scoop. You can remove the piece, but I wouldn't want to on a daily driver. Look how much of the engine is exposed without it:

Just a word of advice though Joe. On my old no-name CF hood (in sig) I took it up to 205 km/h no problem. The hood shook a little. Soon afterwards installed pins. A few weeks ago, forgot to lock the pins (stupid) but the latch was secured. Drove leisurly around my condo complex at only 25 km/h before the cf hood flipped and smashed my windshield. Thus ordered a new Seibon hood.
Nonetheless beautiful hood

Looks good Joe,. Can't wait to see it on your car. :D Regarding the pins, you won't need them if you go normal highway speeds like below 70 mph. However, if you plan to take the car to a track, C-ONE recommends getting pins even though they have tested their Ver. 2 kit on the track plenty of times with out pins. :crazy2:

Yeah I know, the pics are deceiving. Trust me when I say that what you're seeing is: through the scoop, and under the hood. There is no exit entry from the back of the hood. I'd take more pics of it, but I had a hell of a time bubblewrapping it back up, so I'd rather not do it again. :D

Nah, I don't care, you can post them in here so people can see what it looks like installed. And please post a pic of the back of the hood/scoop too, so they can see that there is no hole in the back of the scoop.

Evil,
Sorry for doubting you. My C-One hood is still in the bubble wrap since I don't have my car back to put it on, and so I unwrapped it last night to see what you are talking about since I have the updated Ver 2 hood like you.
It's definitely the camera angle like you said....there is no hole in the back. And that cover thing IS really nice - redirects the air nicely onto the exhaust manifold. No other hood out there (except for a stock Celica hood) does that if they have a raised hood scoop.

I think you are seeing through beneath the back of the scoop. Look at the pics of the hood on the car...it is smooth to the back - no holes.

yup...lol... sssh..lol.. a little to much.. im still recovering from that one and trying to get shiezens c-one kit this month
I feel you bro. I definitely took a big hit purchasing the hood. I need to take a break from modding, or rather, buying new parts. But it's so hard when I'm the damn moderator for the for sale forum. Every day is like a tease.

Thanks Rog, soon hopefully. I'm still searching for a shop who's worked with CF before.

Yeah you're telling me. For two years now I've been saving for a coilover kit. But before I can save up the full amount, I blow the money on something else. It's rediculous how high the TRD front bumper sits.
