If the real momo knob is the same as my knock off, it will raise the throw by 1/2 - 1". It's really comfy, though. Kinda heavy, too, so it helps with leverage.

i had the momo one, but then i switched to the trd one. i found the momo one to be a bit big. Its a bit heavier than the trd one, id recommend the trd but its all personal preference

also, the momo, if you notice, curves in at the bottom. the metal piece on the bottom. i've seen pics and it looks really wierd on our boot with that shiny ring we have on the top beause it's wider than than the bottom of the knob. i think i've seen knockoff ones that don't curve in like this and look a little shorter.

You can take the chrome ring off the shift boot easily. Just take the boot off the plastic trim and turn it inside out. There's just a wire clip holding it on. Then you can just raise the boot over the bottom of the knob.Originally posted by wahili

I did cut more of the lever off when I put the knob on, though, since it pretty much increased the throw close to the way it was stock.

ok well then the last thing i need to know is..how foolish does that momo look on a stock shifter....i mean i dont want to be shifting at shoulder level and stuff HEHEHE
Like..if you have a stock shifter...can you do the same thing with the boot...flip it inside out..or will it not even reach that high...and is it weird to shift with the momo with a stock shifter..
thanks for the pics man....that looks sweet as hell on the short shifter... so you actually cut your shifter down more ?? with like a hack saw!?

Did more than that, too. :) First, I drove the shaft of the shift lever through the pivot ball around 3/4" with a sledgehammer, extending the bottom end. Then, to compensate for the extension, I made bushings out of aluminum washers, which raised the shifter assembly so the bottom of the lever wouldn't scrape the floor. Finally, I cut about an inch off the top with a hacksaw.
I didn't have the right tools to rethread the end of the lever, so I just got that momo knock off which uses a plastic cover over the lever and three screws that go into the base of the knob. After I got the knob, I had to cut about another inch off the top because it just reextended the end of the lever.
Basically, the whole thing was modelled after the B&M short shifter.
