well I finally got my tax returns done today and I should be getting $732 in the next couple weeks sometime. I'm having a really hard time deciding weather to spend the money plus the rest I've saved this month on wheels, or to use it all to make a huge car payment and get that much closer to not having a car payment.

WHEELS....WHEELS....WHEELS.....WHEELS!!!!!!!

You weren't supposed to say that! jk I'm thinking thats the way to go, but I'm still half way considering being responsible too. Anyone want to suggest some wheels? Must be 18s. The main two I've been looking at are the Enkei RSF-2, and the Nipon Racing Taiko.

i'm gonna be a nerd and say you should use your tax refund to pay down your car loan. personally i hate being in debt.

Don't listen to him!!! WHEELS....WHEELS....WHEELS.....WHEELS!!!!!!!
Haha, whatever you want to do man. If I ever get around to
getting wheels, I'm going to chicken out and get 17's. They're a little more protected by the tires from getting bashed. Just my opinion though.

hmmm....i think some wheels would look very nice :)
cbr600drm
04-13-2002, 09:42 AM
Yes they would. I think I need wheels. I think I am leaning back towards the Taiko. I think I'm going to look at as many options as I can and try to find some nice looking wheels that won't cost too much. I want to stay under $1000 for wheels and tires.

04-13-2002, 11:31 AM
Good luck with the under a grand thing I wish I had stayed under a grand when I bought my rims and tires but hey at least I stayed under 2 grand, and On the other note, it may not be a bad Idea to use it as a big car payment, I know that if I were close to paying of my car I would wan't to do that, without a car payment you can save money real fast, and then get the wheels but of course our cars look so much better with new rims?

You could buy the two of my wheels that are still left in decent condition.
I think I might be getting these in 18*8. They are only 188 a piece. http://www.edgeracing.com/FLIK/FLIK%20Images/FLEX-V-Big.jpg or I might get Tenzos.

it was cool meeting you jamie, and bryan too. i think i spelled his name wrong. there's a billion ways to spell bryan. anyways, definitely get wheels. my suggestion would be the tenzo r's, really cheap and great looking! i'm loving mine, they're finally breaking in. but under 1k is gonna be next to impossible, unless you're getting really cheap 17's. but i would go with 18's, looks waaay better, barry knows:)

hahaha...engrish quotes in sigs are funny. and those wheels you posted look sweet barry, thats not a bad price at all either. that still sucks about yours though, stupid rain and curbs.

Those look similar to the ones that some guy has in the rotation on this site. I was looking for them but couldn't find the ones he has. It is the pic that is just the front right wheel and you can see his fender and its a silver car. His look bad ass. So what happened again? Was this saturday night?

ok this is the one I was talking about. If I don't get the Nipon Racing Taiko, then I might try to get these or something like them.

Those are ADR Kasai's. They have them at whalentire.com they're only $210 each. They also sell those Enkei wheels you were talking about $152 each.

Thanks Barry! I can't decide what I want to do. I'm thinking now that I might put off getting wheels a little longer. That way maybe I could get an intake and use the rest of the money to make a big car payment. I could change my mind again tomorrow though, who knows. That sucks about your rims by the way! Is it possible to get two wheels to replace the bad ones?
Bling
04-15-2002, 04:49 PM
I can get two new wheels. I'm gonna wait and see how my car looks after the springs are installed. Then I'll decide if I want to get 18's or just get two new wheels.

OH WHALEN TIRE STORRY THIS WILL HELP YOU OUT!!!!!!!!
Ok I believe talk to Dave....
Ok about 2 months ago the price was real low like in the 120s for the 17 inch enkeis. Then the sky rocket to 150s. I call and ask what the hell is goin on. The guy says that some little kid was going around bragging about the real low price and they had to raise it cause Enkei Called and told them to. He said he would give me the same price. So call up whalen tire and see if you can get there old price for enkeis. I bet i just saved you 150 bucks LOL

They got messed up on the off ramp to go to Turnerfield. It had started raining pretty hard and the front wheels locked up when I was slowing down to make the turn. My next car will have abs. This is the second time this has happened.

Hey Mark, look at Blue Batmobiles new tailight mod. I'm gonna get it. Smoked will look sweet on CB!!

i think i'll settle for that R34 skyline motorex has out in california. and yea, i did see both the TYC tails and the smoked kit and they both look pretty sweet. $350 is a bit high for the TYC's though, i think i'll just stick with the red-outs for now. and thats cool you want a R6 mark, i know me and a few of us other people still want bikes really bad too. i'd love to get one of those but after talking to so many people and hearing how bad they are for newbies i think i might go with a cbr instead, they seem to be way easier to learn on (but man that r6 blue looks nice...oh well).

04-16-2002, 07:30 PM
I'll take a 360 also. Silver with the F1 transmision. Or you can help me build an ultimate Celica out of my car with a different front end. The nose on that thing is so ugly!

04-16-2002, 07:39 PM
Is the R6 really bad I thought the R1 was bad but the R6 was the CBR of Yamaha, If that's the case I may go with the 600F4i, that is also sweet, in Yellow and black it looks tight, and that Blue R6 is just beautiful
cbr600drm
04-16-2002, 07:45 PM
The R6 just has a really agresive shift. Power wise it probably has a little more low end than the CBR. I would get a ZX6-R. They are nice. They have gone the longest without any big changes but they have plenty of power, the ergonomics are really good and I think they look the best. My friend has a black and green one. The GSX-R 600 is the sportiest of the 600s. They are really nice, but from what I've heard they get uncofortable quickly.
2kgtx
04-16-2002, 07:47 PM
I was reading this months Sport Rider and they said that the CBR's are the most comfortable to ride, it has a more natural way to sit.
cbr600drm
04-16-2002, 08:14 PM
Yeah, the F4 was better than the F4i for comfort, but it is still a better sitting position than the GsxR600 and the R6. If you are serious about getting a bike I would recomend getting a used bike for your first bike. It would suck to buy a brand new F4i and lay it down. I got my 98 CBR600 for $4500 last summer and I'll probably sell it for $4000 at the end of this summer and get a new bike in the spring. It would also suck to spend the money for a new bike and decide you don't like riding or something. A guy I work with baught a new SV650 a few months ago and has wrecked it three times already and is getting rid of it.

I'm not sure I'm going to sell it yet. I'm just thinking that maybe I'll sell it at the end of summer to pay my car off before I go back to school. Then I really want to get a new bike by next spring if I can work enough while I'm in school. I haven't had any problems with it. There is still a little work I want to do to get in its best shape, just small bodywork stuff.

Doing better than me, I matched 0 numbers. I spent the whole day thinking positively about winning and got nada! Lady at work lives near the chick that won, apparently her boyfriend proposed after she found out she won... big suprise.
Oh, Jamie, there are some DropZones on E-bay, can ya see if its the same thing as you got? What was the price tag on the TRD Springs everyone got again?

Cody I am thinking of going to a riding class this summer to learn how to ride also One of my friends said at some of the classes they will let you get your license at the completion of it, If I find anything out about it I will let you know, I think that it is a good idea to have good insturction if you are going to be riding a sport bike.

04-17-2002, 02:20 PM
Duncan Just let me know when you decide on if you are going to sell it or not it's no big deal to me. I am not sure that I will have enough by the end of the summer any way but I think I should have enough money to buy one at the end of the summer. I hope I just need to convince my parents it's not such a bad thing, I think I am making progress on this issue.

04-17-2002, 04:07 PM
yea, you're probably talking about the MSF rider course. it's $50, lasts a weekend (i think) and they teach you tons of in class stuff and then put you on the bikes and show you everything. you don't need a bike or helmet or anything either, but they do make you wear long sleeves i think. if you pass their tests at the end you'll get your full license. i'm pretty sure duncan did this course, and everyone else i've talked to said it was very helpful. i'll try to find out when they're doing it and where for sure (i think the closest place near us is alpharetta). it supposively books up way in advance so maybe a few of us can go ahead and try to reserve a spot for later this summer.
2kgtx
04-17-2002, 06:31 PM
That sounds good, Hmmm alpharetta that's such a long drive for me, J/K, that's were Andretti is, like 15 min's away :D If it is in Alpharetta who ever comes can probably crash at my place if they don't want to drive here twice in a weekend.
cbr600drm
04-17-2002, 07:48 PM
Yes the course is really good. Cody is right it books up really early, but from what I've heard they have a few new locations so it may be better now. At the end if you pass the riding test you get a card which makes you exempt from taking either test at the liscense bureau. You just go and give them the card and get your liscense. I would take your own helmet, they have some but you don't know who has been sweating in them. You also need gloves, long sleeves, boots or shoes that cover your ankles, and I think thats it. I went to the one in alpharetta. It is at the big Honda USA headquarters down there.

By the way I just remembered something. I was going to tell you guys that a bunch of the AMA superbike guys have been testing this week at road atlanta. If they are still there tomorrow I may go down and be nosy.
