I've been saving up all summer for a turbo and I only have a little bit more to go but i had some questions first. First of all, i live in SC...not the biggest tuner hotspot there is....lots of mustangs...that's about it....so i don't know of anywhere near me that could tune my management unit for me...is there any way that i could get someone else's scematics and load them onto the unit myelf...basically copying their tuning? I'm not sure so I thought I'd ask first...also I'm getting ready to put in a new clutch and flywheel since i'm pretty much done reinforcing the engine (besides gaskets which are on the way and sleeving which i'm prbly not going to do since i don't plan on pushing monster psi) and was thinking about the ACT TY-XT04 or the ACT TY-XTSS and a Fidanza flywheel..now i'm pretty much sure on the flywheel but what about the clutch? Is the ACT unit pretty good? Is there a better option? Any help would be appreciated, thanx.

Whats up local! I asked that question months ago and too got no response, in terms of a shop locally that was capable to tune a PFC or emanage. If you do a search in the performance mods -sub forum ecu tuning, you will see it is possible to get others' maps, but I do not know what is necessary it terms of equipment and software to do this. Regardless, the kit will still need to be tuned to your specific car to best perform and be safe, so you may have to drive a little ways. ATR is freeplay just developed a kit for our car, and the kit comes pretuned with the emanage. You may possibly get this shop to tune your unit for you, though they dyno tuned somewhere in GA.

As far as the flywheel/clutch combo goes, I have the fidanza and love it. It was not difficult to drive, though slightly more sensitive. I have the exedy OEM clutch, which is good for a daily driver, but will not hold up very long on a serious kit. ACT does not have a good rep with the celica community, though I do not know why. I had an ACT in my EG hatch and it held up fine. In terms of cost and quality, I would go with the Exedy stage 1 clutch kit. I have never heard a negative post towards exedy. You don't happen to live or have family that lives on hwy 6 near platt springs do you?

i recommend the ACT XT plate and the 6puck disk...thats what im using and its holding just fine and the engagement isnt too harsh either...

no I don't live or have any family near platt springs road, I live over near the wal-mart and the **** smith nissan dealorship on 378...but newayz, thanks for the info...I actually went to a "racing" shop the other day and asked if they had a dyno and could tune cars and they said yea that they do it all the time on mustangs and vettes and they asked what kind of car i had and when i said i had a celica that needed its turbo tuned the guy at the counter said "sorry we don't do small cars"...yea, i was like WTF?...newayz, what kind of bad things have you heard about the ACT units? I was thinking about the 4-puck...but now that you said that i'm kinda of iffy...

Was it that new shop over on charleston hwy before it changes to blossom st. (I think it is called CPR)? I have not been there, I just realized it was there about two weeks ago, or did you go to ATS on two notch? Honestly, I do not personally know of the "problems" with the ACT's, only that anytime someone mentions one, someone else usually recommends another brand. Smay is a reliable source with personal experience and he seems satisfied, but I would still do a search about ACT clutch and see what pops up.

That sounds like the redneck response you would get from the soutern motorheads around here. I think that is why I generally dislike chevettes and rustangs, though I do not hate all american cars, dodge is putting out some cooler stuff lately. Who did your internals work? It is nice knowing there is another celi owner nearby who hangs out at this site. I too actually live in Lexington, off of Platt Springs.

Ill say it again, you wont need the 4 puck...if your staying all motor or low boost turbo, then the street disk is fine..if you have a built motor and going for big boost then the 6 puck will do

i had this little shop in atlanta do the internals...the guy i bought them from worked there so he went ahead and put everything in for me and adjusted it for an extra $700....I don't remember the name I'll have to look...it was something autosports..iono..and yea, some of dodge's stuff is pretty kewl, when it comes to the srt-4 i have to give'em props, that's a solid ride...but yea, i was shooting for about 300-320 horsepower, which calls for somewhere in the neighborhood of 12 psi to produce, that's the only reason i was considering the ACT 4-puck, however, if the street clutch can handle that than i'll go ahead and get it...gotta get new speakers while i'm at it newayz...i got a new headunit and now my audiobahn components are screwin up along with my subs so i'm probably gonna haveta replace them with regular 2-ways and replace the back 2-ways and then take it to a stereo shop so they can un-F$%# it....i hate spending money on stuff that doesn't make me faster...

I used to work at Pleasant Sounds Pro Audio in North Chareston for over 2 years, if you want I will take a look at your audio problems. Also, my old co-worker recently left the company to start his own shop. It will be opening in August and he carries Audiobahn if that is what you wish to replace it with. I am currently designing a concept where the rear dual cone speakers are replaced with an 8" sub in an enclosure. I plan on making them with internal passive crossovers with 2 freq. setting and 6 and 12 db slopes, this way, someone could run them with the factory amp, though not nearly as loud as if run with an aftermarket amp or rear facing, rear mounted subs, it would still provide a major improvement in the low end performance of the factory system and it would appear stock.

yea, that would be great, i don't know what's going on with my speakers, if you'll just tell me where and when and if you don't mind it'd be great if you could take a look...my e-mail's ATRAIS1218@aol.com and my sn is ATRAIS1218 if you'd rather contact me that way...but yea that sub enclosure idea sounds pretty kewl...i was gonna replace the two rear speakers with two 6 1/2 coaxials and run a midrange line back there because (along with some other problems) they keep cutting out on me whenever i turn the volume up...i suspect itz either because they're not powerful enough or the stock amp isn't powerful enough...i don't know....if you can take a look and figure out what's going on that would be awesome, i could help and pay you too if you wanted.
