Hi all, Just bought a $5 alarm install guide from some guy on ebay.

It lists all the wires under the dash and what they do...also gives tips on installing the alarm and some stereo ( GT only) wiring codes.

If interested...I will email it ...just post or email me and i will send.

Damn, u paid $5 for that?! I should jump on ebay...make a fortune with the program we use at work for car wiring. :)

If you had made a post earlier...I would have scanned you everything you need to wire an alarm/stereo/GPS/etc...

Maybe next time!

*2 The BCM is located just to the right side of the radio. Remove the radio to access.
*3 To avoid dome light delay, use red/yellow at the driver door pin for the driver door and red at the passenger door pin for the passenger door. Isolate each door trigger with diodes.
*4 There are 2 blue/red wires in the ignition harness. The correct ignition wire is the heavier gauge one and it has 1 silver hash mark. The incorrect wire has 2 silver hash marks.

This previous post that I did is from a reliable source (D.E.I.) it will cover all celica's from 2000 - 2002. Hope this helps you all. I do installs as a profession so I know that this guide is reliable. They only thing I will not share is how to isolate the ignition wires when doing remote starts. I will tell you that if you don't do it, you will hose your starter. Have fun.

LOL, I didn't even see that one. Thanks IRL. On this same note, can the facotry alarm (VIP something or other) just be pulled? I don't want that stupid thing in there if I don't need it.

Actually I am pretty sure you will have to pull it, as they are a pain in the ass to work around on other Toyotas I have dealt with. :)

But then why find these new wires around the car? Aren't most of the wires I would need for an alarm install already in the factory harness?? They should be. At least the lights, door locks, dome light, horn, and a few others. Does anyone have the alarm wiring information?

Curt

If you are just putting in a basic alarm system...then most if not all your wires will be in that harness. Pretty easy to test for them if you have a harness in your hand...so more wiring info wont help much. :)

SQ GT-S

Well, I'm lazy and don't want to test all the wires. I would prefer just looking at a sheet with colors and just tapping all the wires. Well, not really tap them. I'm going to buy/make a harness to go on the factory harness so that I don't have to cut any wires. This way, when I sell the car, I can just unplug my alarm and plug the original one back in.

So if anyone has those wire specs, please share. :)

Man, even with a wiring diagram infront of me...I always test the wires. I guess in my line of work you have to be 100% sure that you are soldering on to the right line...I will never take a diagram to heart...since they are never 100% accurate. :)

A $5 test light resting on ground will help you find those wires in less than a minute...stop being lazy!!! :gap:

LOL, I use a DMM. A friend of mine uses this awesome test light. It's got 3 LEDs in it. Depending on what the signal is (pos, pulsed, neg, etc) the LEDs light up differently. I want one. I would ask him, but he down in Pheonix right now doing another install for some football player. About 40 g's worth of install equipment. LOL

IRL, do you use a standard test light (bulb and wire) or do you have something fancy?

And I agree, wiring diagrams aren't always right. I usually go according to the diagrams, but I try to get the info from multiple sources first. One example is my mom's Camry. I downloaded 4 wiring manuals, and for somethings, there were 4 different wires. I ended up testing most of the wires.

I have a DMM, but I also have a computer safe logic probe, along with the standard 5amp test light.

The Multimeter and Logic Probe are excellent tools...but for the most part I am very familiar with pretty much any car out there...so I choose my trusted snap on test light. :) I like being able to trigger the locks/factory alarm arm/disarm on vehicles.

For anyone new to installing, the standard test light is a complete no no. You can cause so much damage it isnt even funny!

For me, working 10hours a day 6 days a week for the past 3 years installing security makes you really remember wiring colors in pretty much any car without having to look up wiring codes. :wiggle:
