I went to the local autoparts store and It seems that they still carry the old Mobil1 synthetic. Are the rumors that they are changing the oil unfounded? If they are changing it I want to purchase as much as I can before they do. Will they change the look of the label or will it be the same?

Hey I can answer this question. I work at a local speed shop and I spoke with our Mobil 1 distributor yesterday about this issue. What I was told was this, the whole Mobil 1 line, emphasis on 1, is made up entirely synthetic lubricants. From the motor oil to the lubricant spray. Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic will be replaced with Mobil 1 SuperSyn. They will still going to be a 100% fully synthetic lubricants. Hope that helps.

someone several days ago posted that since Castrol is getting away w/ selling non-synthetic oil as tru synthetic that mobil was gonna do the same.

does anyone know when they are gonna change their oil?
I'm thinking about buying as much as I can before this happens but need to to know when stores will start stocking with the non-synthetic ones

Do some reading. Mobil 1 can call dog poo synthetic now that they went through the whole lawsuit with castrol and lost over what can actually be called synthetic.

If you want a company that was the first and best ... um forever in synthetics go with Amsoil.

How about Vavoline? I heard they were one of the few company that was still producing true synthetic oil.
