Hi!

The car is now finally together again and is ideling fine with the gt28rwithgtsinj map. Just got my C2 3" exhaust today, so I have to slap that on first before I can start street tuning it.

The coolant isn't gotten entierly into the engine yet, I'll try to jack up the front today to see if it will swallow some more.

Me and my buddy installed the kit in 5 days in my garage. We have never installed or touched a turbo kit before, the only knowledge we had was from this forum, so it was a fun challange. Surprisingly we didn't run into any huge problems. Some experience was:

The oilpan sat pretty good on, but with a butterknife and a hammer it came off.

We used an engine lift to move the engine to the front and we also popped the axles off. This gave alot of room to remove the old headers and install the new ones with the turbo. Remeber to mount the oil in line BEFORE mounting the turbo to the header :)

The turbo bracket that came with the kit was a little off and didn't align 100% with the holes on the block. We rotated the turbo housing and used some washers and we got it to sit pretty good.

The intercooler piping lined up very good. The intake piping was a little hard to squeeze into place.

We made our own oil in lines with some T splits for an aftermarket oil pressure sensor. And we used an oil inlet restrictor, and oil drain gasket from ATP turbo.

Also installed Bing's old custom fuel rail with 360cc injectors, power enterprise 165lph fuel pump and a greddy oil catch tank.

Here are some pictures from during the install, more will come...

please try and tune before the exhaust comes on.
Then again after it comes on.
I am very interested in the gains on a st1 kit

For the rest, you did a very nice job!!
Have fun with your new power :)

You might not have done a turbo install before, but you seem to know your sh!t. Good work!!! Keep updated with performance figures etc.

TIPS:

- Zip tie your power steering fluid away from the turbo.
- EGT temp is most effective if placed before the turbo.
- 90 degree transtion hose from the IC pipe to the turbo.

All else looks great. Enjoy!

Immo: Yes, it's off now

My o-rings for the new injectors were broken so I had to put the stock fuel injectors in for now, just have to get some new ones tomorrow.

Here are some more pictures...

Engine bay (I hate the garden hoses that comes with the greddy oil catch tank, got to get some silicone ones)

OMG uber!!! I will look into that air filter position solution as well. Mine's positioned pretty high right now.

Great job, cherish her like a baby and make sure to perform the maintenance on it to keep your car optimal.

i like everything except for the reflectors on the bumper. Are those stock on the gt in Norway? good job!

Yes I had them as well. I got the Kaminari kit to get rid of them.
I don't like your sidemarkers... they are too big.

Took the car out for a test drive today (no exhaust mounted) and all I can say is WOW, it's surprisingly fast when boost kicks in (around 3k rpm) and it just keeps on pulling. I did not know it would be this big of an improvement. No leaks and everything seems to be holding up. Just did some short pulls in 2nd and 3rd up to about 5k rpm and the AFR seems to be good in boost (between 12.5 and 13.5) with the upgraded pump and stock injectors for now, but they will probably be maxed out when reving a little higher, I didn't monitor the inj. duty cycle. I will install the 360cc injectors again on monday.

I'm having some headaches fitting the exhaust since the downpipe is all the way to the right against the heat shield. But I will do some cutting and welding tomorrow and hopefully everything will be OK. Driving around with no exhaust is crazy load and I'm getting alot of angry looks :)

I will be taking a trip to a tuner who specialises in the emanage here in Norway. Only thing is that I will have to make a 2 day trip out of it since it's 7 hours one way and I will be using about 4-6 hours on the dyno. So hopefully it will happen during next month.

I can't tell you how envious I am. That is awesome that you are doing all this yourself. I wish that I had never took mine to a shop. Anyway, great job.

My AFR when ideling is bouncing from 14.2 to 16-17 on idle, when im driving slowly in up to about 2500rpm not in boost the AFR also bounces a lot, and sometimes when I let go of the gas fast it shows 19-20 in a blink and goes down to bouncing. I thought the numbers where a little high or is this normal? I know it needs tuning, but is this ok to drive for a little while? The AFR in boost seems to be good.

Thanks!

When Idling and below 3000rpm it should get to 14.7 because the ECU is regulating the fuel there by the lambda measures.
When you get off the gas the fuel injection is shut down to save gas. Thats why your numbers get that high.

Just take care that you tune it to a well 11.5-12:1 on boost and WOT. If you get the chance put your EGT sensor on the header. Third cylinder. It reacts much faster and the numbers are more accurate than after turbo. I tried both on my car. :)
