both toyotas dropped out with transmission problems. weird, they didn't do anything to the transmission before the race i think. just engine and aerodynamics...i know they've been wanting to move to a 7-speed gearbox, but they couldn't have so soon...could they?

FYI, the Toyota Formula 1 program has nothing to do with TRD, both engineering and funding. Toyota Team Europe (TTE) is solely funded by the Toyota Motor Corp, while TRD USA and Motorsports is funded by Toyota Motor Sales, USA.
Although it may have been predictable, I think it was a pretty remarkable race. No crashes and an absolutely perfect performance by the Ferarri Team and drivers. That alone is worth watching.

It is better for Toyota to have problems earlier in the season than later. I wonder what was up with Montoya....

It's CART you should blame since that effort is all on TRD USA's shoulders. Cristiano da Matta shoulda won yesterday :(

You've got to blame da Matta's crew for (1) releasing him knowing fernandez was coming and (2) choosing a pit right at pit entrance. Other than that, da Matta had the whole field covered easy.

Was sad to see Matta's day end early.
Also the F1 program is going better than what Toyota and other F1 teams expected them to do.They even have scored some points already! Which is more than some teams have done this season. So I wouldn't complain. It one of the main things I hate about F1. There is like two dominate teams and there are too many cars that don't finish the races. Millions in R&D, testing and they all still have problems finishing races.
I heard speculation that Montoya set up for rain. And then it didn't rain. Woulda been nice if someone was even within sight of Michael huh?
