HELP! my photoshop doesn't work?

i just got Photoshop 6.0.1...

for some reason, whenever i try to use text, none of the text shows up! the text i enter is displayed as the name of the text layer in the layer window, but no text on the image!

i've tried changing colors, and messing with all the options, but still no dice. anybody know wtf is going on?

Are you sure the text is on the topmost layer? If not, it may be covered up by another layer.

yeah, it is, i even turn off viewing of all other layers.

the thing is, even as i'm typing, i don't see anything come up. weird, eh?

I could've sworn I had that problem a week or two ago. I don't remember what I did to solve it, though. Try going into the general preferences and resetting all tools.
