hello everyone. i have found this forum very helpful and come to it more and more with alot of my inquires about celicas and performance parts. you all are very helpful and know alot more than i do about this stuff.
so my first question would have to be: What exactly does a turbo do? next: what does a supercharger do? i mean like how are they different. 3rd Q: which one would give me more gains?
alright theres three noob questions, and heres three more: whats kinds of headers are the best? i've looked at alot of different ones but of course they all say that they are good. i would like some reviews of people who have different headers ( well in the celica case, just header..) and i would also like to know what kinds of exhaust systems are good and at the same time sound good( not that high pitched buzzing sound that some ricer's have). lastly, can someone explain the workings of an intercooler? i've been looking around but again, i like having imput from more experienced people who actually know what they are talking about instead of just trying to sell it to you.

oh and does anyone ever get flashed at when driving through neighborhoods by other drivers passing by? usually its like 40 yr old moms and old guys who think i am doing 65 on their little "neighborly" street, when i am really going the speed limit or +5 of that at the most. that crap pisses me off. i mean all i have done is visual stuff so far and a CAI. i'm not fast yet, i only look the part.
any imput on any of the above is greatly appreciated.

not that i know much but i do know a turbo will give you more overall power for the higher RPM's.

How a turbo works (http://auto.howstuffworks.com/turbo.htm) (your supercharger and intercooler questions are covered in this)
The difference between a supercharger and a turbo charger (http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question122.htm)

As a noob, you should do a search for any questions you have first before you post them, as they have probably already been discussed at length (this applies to your header and exhaust questions).

Hope this helps!

Turbo = sucks air through the engine via the exhaust system to create more power. Generally has better high RPM power at the expense of less low RPM power.
SC = pushes air through the engine via the intake system to create more power. Generally has better low RPM power at the expense of less high RPM power.

Best headers for the GT are Hotshot, DC, and a ported stock header. Best for the GT-S is a ported stock header.

Exhaust note is a pretty touchy subject. What might sound good to someone might not to someone else. I prefer quieter, smooth sounding exhausts, so ones like TPR, TRD, RMM, Apexi, and 5Zigen (arranged in terms of power, most to least) would all sound good to me.

An intercooler basically works the same way a radiator or AC condenser does. Air flows through it from one side to the other. The fins are cooled by air flowing through them from outside, which in turn helps cool off the air flowing through inside.

And about being flashed by 40 yr old moms, nope, never happened to me before. :chuckles:
