We're having another autocross school open to all novice drivers May 11 - 12. If you've just started autocrossing and are now hooked, come out to the school for lots of seat time and instruction.
The school fills up fast! Keep checking www.solo2.com for details on the school. As soon as info is on the board, send in your check to be guaranteed a spot.
See you there!
Dara
Do you know if the 12th is a practice or more instruction?

We usually set up our two day schools like this:
Day 1 consists of four different exercises: a skid pad, braking zone, slalom and mini course. Each exercise consists of working and running. After your group finishes, you rotate to the next course, and so on.
Day 2 a real course is set up and you get to run all day long with or without your instructor. Last year they let the instructors run in the morning in their own car to give students a ride for fun. We will then ride with you in your car to give you feedback on your driving and let you have fun all day.
Bring lots of water, sunblock and a hat! I still have a slight farmers tan on my shoulders from a severe sunburn two years ago!
Erok, sign up if you can............it's worth it! Keep checking the solo2 website.

I will definitely sign up for the 2nd day practice unless I have to work out of town. I took the March school and found it to be very helpful. I feel like my basic driving technique is sound after the school, I just need more practice and perhaps some help figuring out the best driving line. At the Norton event I felt like I was driving the car ok, but my lines were slow.
Dara, do you notice that the Cal Club timing/results system is frequently messed up? The April 7th results have my x-runs wrong. And I believe I got lucky and won DSP in Febuary, but the posted results have me in 2nd with completely different times than I was given at the event. If I was more competative I'd be quite concerned. Is it just a coincidence in my case or is it a common issue?

Erok:
I don't think you can sign up for just the 2nd day school. The school covers both days and your check will too! But, you can try.
We've been running this new timing system since last year and it still has bugs to be worked out. I don't have any problems with my times but they did take a few events to change my celica into a 240Z! You will always hear that the results are unofficial until they are posted on the site. There are times when there is a very late cone call and you think your run was clean, but it is later verified that you hit one or two, thus your time will be different than what you originally thought. I don't think this problem is a common issue, or we'd here more people scream!

Hey, instead of the school come on up to the Atwater ProSolo the same week and drag and auto-x with some fellow NorCal Celica drivers. For some of them, this will be their first SCCA National type event. The ProSolo's are rare and the next one near the West Coast is around the end of July in Utah.

Too far for me. 282.2 miles/ 5 hour drive according to mapquest.com. That'd be 10 hours of driving + hotel/gas etc. for 5 minutes autocrossing. Hollywood Park is like 5 minutes away for me. Thanks for the invite though!
Well, it looks like the May school at Hollywood Park is now going to be just a normal practice both days! For anyone who wants to try autox without the pressure of competition and limited runs, this is your chance! I'm looking forward to it.
