I'm trying to remove the stock spoiler from a '01 GTS Action Package. I removed the inside panel from the rear deck lid, but I can't figure out how to remove the bolts holding down the spoiler. Does anyone here know what I'm supposed to do?

The spoiler will be for sale once removed, if there are any interest buyers.

make sure u dont drop the bolts in the hatch while removing the spoiler

I removed the plastic peice your talking about, but there doesn't appear to be anything for me to unscrew to actually loosen the spoiler. There are no nuts or anything. Am I missing something?

Is there anyone out there that can help me with this?

There should be 4 bolts that hold the OEM spoiler on. Just remove them and it will come right off. As Coolcelica said, be carefull not to drop the bolts into the hatch!

I guess I'll have to take another look under there. I saw the four bolts, but it was like there was nothing ratchet off. It was just the bottoms of screws hanging down like an 1/8th of an inch.

Thanks for your help.

call me stupid but how do you get the plastic off

I haven't actually taken it off yet. I'm not sure if there is some adhesive under there as well. I heard that using fishing line is a good way to seperate the adhesive from the car. My problem was I couldn't see the bolts (it was dark out), but they are there and are very easy to unscrew.

There are lots of clips and one screw in the handle part on the side. You'll need to get a good grip to pull the panel off.

Ya, I almost ripped that screw out before I knew it was there.
Now my problem is one of the bolts is stripped. Got any insight on how to handle that?

My plan was to drill out the bolt just enough where the nut comes falls off. I don't know what it looks like under the wing mounts though. Is that bolt going to be impossible to replace if I try to drill it?

How do you plug up the spoiler holes afterwards? Are there any plugs you can buy for the holes?

be creative and make your own custom plugs with material from a hardware store.

Yeah, what does everyone think of the celi w/o any spoiler? I have seen a few (one on the obbnmotorworks.com site) and it kinda looks like the 350Z.... kinda...

What do you guys think?

Do you care that much about what others think. If you like it - go with it.

I was thinking about that, but I was worried that the plugs might leak or something.

ok... i've done this before

first off.. you DON'T want to drill that bolt... it's part of the spoiler.. i have no clue if it's replaceable....

second, after the 4 nuts, there's 4 white clips...

third... the whole base of the spoiler is double-stuck onto the hatch.... it is a serious pain to undo.... fishing line didn't work all that well, and the dude who's car it was pulled/tweaked too hard and dented his hatch... so be weary of that.....

and.. don't forget to unclip the wire for the brakelight.

btw... if you take off your 3rd brakelight cover on the top of the back window cleanly and wanna sell it, let me know

Ok, I was able to remove the spoiler without any problems. But I came across a couple nubs that stick out of the hatch upwards (maybe the white clips you're referring to, but they were painted matching silver). Anyway.. how do you remove those?

those aren't the clips.. they're just nubs... you gotta grind em
wanna sell the brakelight cover?
