Fiberglass bodied, tubed chassis, blown nitro burning hemi powered cars that bear very little resemblance to the cars they purport to be, ie. mustang, camaro etc. There is also a class for those that burn alchohol instead of nitro. Gary Scelzi currently campaigns a TF (top fuel) Celica bodied funny car. The normally run in the upper 4 to low 5 second range in the 1/4.

What class does the Turbonetics car run in? That car might be faster than Saruwatari's NSX and Vinny Ten's Supra!

it runs in NHRA's Pro class which is the same as saruwatari, vinny ten runs in the modified class with papadakis and paisely's supra

Oh, I don't think this celica is faster than the HKS drag Supra. It never ran in the states before. But correct me if I am wrong, I think it has the same setup as the celica.

It would be a good race, but I think the Celica would prevail!! Not just because this is a Celica board or anything, but the Japan track that they test on isn't exactly a quarter mile, and it is somewhat downhill. The Japanese cars come over here and can't really ever back up there numbers. They are usually awesome cars, but if you think about it, we are always faster with their own cars!! All of our Import Racers are faster than theirs. That Supra is awesome, but Americans are Drag Racers, that is the test of which all performance is based on here, so we rule it!!

I am sure the turbonetics celica runs in the pro class but papadakis runs in the pro fwd class w/ rado. Paisley and vinny run in the modified class.

World Racing : I am not totally sure about this but I thought the turbonetics celica was built in the US and runs in the US. It has a tundra motor and I don't think toyota even sell tundra's in Japan. I am not totally sure though.

theres only 5 classes in NHRA SC
All motor: shagday, kelley, ellis
Street Tire: yallon, shepard
Hot Rod: Kubo, Gardella, Farrer
Modified: Paisley (supra), Papadakis, Rado
Pro: Scranton, Paisley (truck), Ibarra

The rules are very similar for the NDRA also for this year, the Pro FWD class was a NIRA class, and they got bought by Primedia and then partnered with the NHRA, so there is no more Tube FWD class, they put Back-Halved RWD cars in our class also. This is cool with us, we have one of those too. ;-)
The Tundra V8 and the GS400 are very similar, obviously, Toyota would only build 1 V8 to start with then modify it to fit different needs. I can vouch that that engine Kicks Butt!!! Our Tundra, (oh the poor Tundra) has had more abuse than any other vehicle on earth (not fact, but you get the idea). In 2 years now, it has 104K on it with I would say 70K from towing 2-3X its rated capacity at redline across country getting 4-5mpg, (with me driving, lol). The only thing that has let go on that truck was the rear end @ about 95K, Luckily we were really close to our destination, Stillwater, OK we were dropping off our GS4 (another abused vehicle) at Kicker to get a system. If I were to ever buy a pickup, the Tundra would be my #1 pick, Toyota nailed the equation dead nuts with that one!!

My bad. I thought you were talking about the celica running in Japan, not the HKS Supra.

Either way, it's like the Integra funny car. It's not really a Celica, just a shell/body that looks like one.
