called state farm today to inquire about the accident and where to get my car's damages estimated at(they had been neglecting to tell me about local shops they're affliated with). well, it turns out they hadn't known that i had been injured in teh accident(i guess my PA agent hadn't told the SC branch..) and now I'm eligible for all med costs, etc to be covered by insurance....as well as receiving compensation and pain and suffering comp for the days of work, classes at school, etc. that i've had to miss cuz of my bad back.

this really sucks though that my back is no longer strong..i wont ever be able to be nearly as active as i used to be :( goign to go to a chiropractor and doctor again tomorrow to have it looked over again.....autocrossing my friends miata reaggravated the hell out of it(it was feeling good for 2 days prior)

but Operation Cobra commences now that I'll be receiving comp money..

I was in an accident on Christmas eve eve 2000 (My friend putting his SI into a ditch head on at 70) and I was sore as f*ck the first few days. I had to take it really easy for about a month. Now though I have no lingering effects or pain in my back like I was worried I would at first. Hopefully it will be the same for you, maybe you just aren't giving yourself enough time to get better before you do things to put a strain on it again.

Anyways hopefully Operation Cobra goes good and you can get one, that would be a sweet ride to pick up. Get a SS and get that crooked ass shifter out of there when you get it though.

So are they now sending you out to some local shops, or do they have an adjustor coming out to look at it?

What do '99s go for these days?

Bill--

was driving to work and was rear ended by a 77 ford pickup truck at 30mph..sandwhiching me between it and the truck in front o fme. car took it likea champ and messed up the pickup worse, but may have frame damage to it...got a concussion, sprained back, neck, etc from it

Willy-- thanks man..thats honestly what i'm hoping, see for the past 2,3 days my back had returned to normal so i took up my friends offer to autocross his miata for him...well..that little car cramped upt eh back and put me back in pain after the 4th lap...so more time off for me..im just pissed cuz i was finally getting my jumper down again on the basketball court :)
oh yeah..my tri-ax will be going into the cobra because the t-5z and t-45 tranny pretty much bolt right up to the steeda..

msilvia--REALLY cheap..like 17-19k these days for a damned decent one. most people are ditchign them for the new 2003 models coming out and/or because of the HP fiasco. the irony in it is that the 99's are identical to the 01's except the 01's come from teh factory with all the TSB's performed on them. so get a 99, save a cuople grand and walk away with teh same car(verify it has had the fixes done to it=easy to do)

:)

i may take the v6 up to rockingham in NC for a couple passes to get the 14.7-14.9 the cars capable of and then retire her.

hey slasher, thats awful man. I broke my back too like 3 years ago, and it has never been the same since. No more football for me, and scholarship gone man. I know how you feel, I hope it heals up, but backs are tricky as hell. I have just accepted my troubles and take alot of advil if it hurts :) Watch out for chiropractors though, i think your best shot is physical therapy. Good luck, and feel free to email me with any questions. Did you get checked out? Did they give you a bone scan for any stress fractures or anything? Good luck man, hope you feel better.

thanks man

all the doctor did was go.."bah just sprained, strained and prob pulled a few muscles, here are some rpescriptions and youl eb fine"

i go "but what about any logn term effects? like i know some friends who have never been the same since injuring their backs in car crashes"

doctor: *waves me off* "bah, hooey"

yes, im going to a competent medical doctor soon enough.

Damn, sorry to hear it Dave! My wife was in a similar accident a few years back - stopped at an intersection when a young girl with a new license slammed into the back of her car (while fixing her hair for work - that's what SHE told the cops!!!!), driving her into a truck stopped just ahead. She was off the job for a year with a back injury and what finally worked for her was a few months of physical therapy a couple times a week. Good luck with the back....and the Cobra! :)

Wow. And the 99/01s had the IRS, right? Sounds like a killer deal.

Thanks Bill :) its been good some days, others just wanna stay in bed..hah

msilvia-- yup, itll have the IRS..I want the car to be a handler so I'm going to opt to stay away from the 4 link. Some shocks, springs, subframes, bushings, and an IRS brace should complete teh deal on the car handling well enough to compete at teh track.

itll be my DD so im not going to be modding it that heavily, honestly 320hp is more than enough IMO, but with what im looking at doing, i hope to be closer to 350ish and mid to hgih 12's before ill call it quits in the power department:) All N/A of course.
