Hey guys, I'm planning on getting some rims soon. I didn't realize how rim shopping can get complicated. I narrowed my search down to a couple rims that are 17 inches. Now my question is would heavier rims affect my acceleration significantly? I have a GT, so weight is important. The rims I had in mind are Moda r6s in 17inches. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/DisplayWheel.jsp?wheelMake=moda&wheelModel=R6&wheelFinish=Bright+Silver+Paint
I called, and found out that they weigh 25lbs each versus the stock GT rim of 17lbs. Any suggestions?

25lbs is heavy for 17's. most 18's are only around 25lbs. if you're going for weight stay below 20lbs on 17's.

ahh Okay. But I were going for style, or for cruising, it wouldn't matter the weight of the rim. Any suggestions on 5 spoke rims that are light and of good construction? I checked out these Flik

Either Titans or Lex. I remember a spokesperson a while ago said that the weights are 17 lbs which I thought were pretty good for 17s. Does anyone have them on their celi?

you're getting screwed by both increasing your radius of the center of rotational gravity of the wheel and the mass at that point ... you're gonna go slower... you're gonna have 57% more rotational intertia in your wheels... THATS A HUGE LOSS... that is caculating an upgrade from 18 lb to 25 lb and from 16" to 17"...

hmm. That's bad. So if I were to get 17"s I should look for the lowest weight possible correct? And at 17lbs, roughly the same as stock, I shouldn't notice too bad of a loss right?
