i have 6000K Hella ballasts with some bulbs.
it runs great, but the fuse blew about three times for the first few months. it blew only for the driver side so the driver headlight was out.
plus, once in a while when i turn on the lights when im listening to music, i can hear a pop noise from the speakers like a fuzz for an instant. im assuming a short but no idea. it also happens sometimes when i highbeam.
other than that, its great.

XenonDepot and HIDPlanet sell very good kits. You want to go with kits made of Philips/Hella parts, that use a separate fused wiring harness to draw power straight from the battery (instead of the headlight wiring).

Get a harness from SUVLights.com instead (basically the same thing that XenonDepot provides on their Philips kits). Stock wiring wasn't meant to handle the massive voltage HIDs need on startup, and will eventually burn out if you turn on the lights a lot. The harness is fused and uses relays to draw power directly from the battery instead of overworking the stock wiring.

I'm useing generic brand, but works well..
I'm not using any wiring harness.. just using stock wires and stock fuse....
Had no problem at all for over year or two....
If you just want plain HID.. just get any cheap HID kit... xenon depot's exteme kit is really good.. had it on two of my friend's car.... works great... bright light..
If you REALLY want true HID... you gotta HID projectile retrofit...
You gotta change the protectile lense... you can get from hidplanet.com
And buy the D2S based bulb and ballast etc.....
This will give you wide light coverage and clean beam cut line...

I just finished my retrofit using Audi A4 projectors. I used to have a Xenondepot kit, but wasn't fully satisfied with the output. I have to say that a retrofit is the way to go if you have a lot of patience, time, and ghetto-rigging capabilities.
Here's a picture that I took a week ago about 20 ft from the wall. The picture isn't that great and I still have to tweak my setup just a little bit.

But you don't see that well in front of you......
Good for show, but not good for daily driven...

No, they're not. The reason why some BMW's, and other cars with factory HID's, have different color lighting has to do with the projector in the housing, not the bulb.
