This has got to be one of the craziest twists I've heard about in a while:
From NHRAImport.com's coverage of the weekend's events.
Second-round wackiness: The second round of eliminations produced more twists and turns than the best rollercoaster ride. In Modified, Christian Rado (pictured) will end up in the winner's circle after with a free ride into the winner's circle after not even planning to attend the event. Rado, whose new Celica was not ready for the event, took up the offer from Toyota teammate Craig Paisley to drive Paisley's old Supra. After defending Modified champ Carlos Gonzales had staging problems and couldn't get up on the turbo in time against Rado in round two, Rado was set to face Len Monserrat in the semifinals for the right to face the winner of the Nelson Hoyos versus Alex Driggers semi. In a wild turn, Driggers left before the Tree turned green for his Corolla and was disqualified; Hoyos also couldn't wait for the Tree and turned loose the Bothwell Motorsport Cavalier and also was disqualified -- thus no winner was declared -- thus making the Rado-Monserrat race the default championship bash, with the winner taking a bye in the final. Rado took the win easily when BigLen stumbled out of the gate.
