At christmas time I bought 2 10" Alpine Type R's and I'm powering them with a 500 Watt Phoenix Gold amp. It sounds really good other than the hatch rattles pretty bad. Is there any way of fixing this?

Yes all you need to do is raise the volume on your H/U so loud that you can't hear the sound anymore, That is if you are talking about the hatch rattling from the inside, If its the outside of the hatch No, or at least I couldn't find anyway, on my car it's the Latch to open the hatch that rattles and their is no way to stop it.

When I get my subs in, I'll figure something out and tell you then.

I'm sure there's something you can do to stop rattling. Usually you just need to pad something down somewhere.

I have the same problem with my handle. It rattles like a mofo. I did dynamat the whole trunk of the car tho, One thing I noticed, the rear quarterpanels would act like drums when the bass was hitting... you could actually stand outside the car and watch the panels flex.. not good. That flexing caused my tail lights to rattle incessantly too. Dynamat took care of the tail lights and the quarterpanels for the most part..
Now need to figure out something about that damn latch..

use search in this forum, there are several topics on rattles in the trunk in the last few months.

I sprayed expanding foam between the plastic panels and the body. Stopped the panels from rattling but didn't do anything for road noise so I'm gonna be tearing that all out sometime soon and replacing it with lots for dynomat throughout the car.

Just a note for those who are considering using expanding foam.. USE A LITTLE AT A TIME. Foam expanding sprays (for example: "Great Stuff) are pretty powerful and if overused can mutilate body panels or anything that stands in its way.. use it slowly and sparingly..

you can get trunk kits from ebay for about 50-60 bucks.
However those are just 16 sq ft. original dynamat and 4 sq ft. dynamat extreme
The original don't stick to anything for ****.
get the extreme if youre gonna do it. it's waaay better. I think you can get 20 sq ft. of extreme for around 100 bones or so. Well worth the extra 50 bucks because it will save you the time and aggrivation of having to re-dynamat your trunk again because the ****ty original that you used the lst time sucked ass...
(I used original lst in case you didnt notice :D )

Contact Rick McCallum at raam@raamaudio.com He sells RAAMmat, a knock off brand similar to dynamat for way less. I guess that he has 2 kinds now. He sells the original in 50sq ft rolls for $75-85 shipped. I'm not sure about pricing of the newest sound damping that he offers. He takes paypal and money orders, with UPS shipping the same or next day after he recieves payment. Great customer service, he'll go out of his way to answer questions

I used 100 sq ft of the original to do everything but the footwells in multiple layers. See my posts in http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=60725#post60725 for more info.
