GTS ? and let it take a beating on a race track or on the street ? I'm still in my break-in period and I drive like a grandma and people probably pass me thinking what the blink blink is wrong with me :D . I can't wait to get thourhg the breakin and see what she can really do but everytime I look at her when parked she looks so sweet and smooth I can't imagine how one can beat her up on a track or something........am I the only one feeling this way that she needs mroe care than abuse.......

No I never race

Most of the time I keep the revs below 3000rpm and barely give it any gas, that way it's well-rested when the time comes to wring the hell outta it :D.

Seriously, I don't think I abuse my car, I just wind out the tach sometimes. I don't power-shift, or slam-shift, or whatever-kind of abusive shift you can do. And I usually double-clutch my downshifts. So I expect it to last over 200,000 miles.

Yeah, I race.. why not. If I didn't want to, I would've bought a econobox green machine or something.. Once you break it in, you'll understand.. hell, I didn't even break mine in... :D

exactly same for me. and the most strain i think i can put on the auto is hitting the rev limiter all the time.

but i got my fair share of problems from other things :(

Hope your not referring to the water thing, otherwise it makes it sound like the cars fault. ;)

i meant that bad things keep happening out of nowhere :D the water thing for one, the oil thing for another, and sometimes it continues to behave quite weird.

Took it to the autoX for the first time a couple weeks ago. Took it to the drag strip for the first time Sunday. I plan on doing both again when Spring rolls around.

Most of the time I drive normal... except being first on the on-ramp... so I can practice shifting while getting on it.

when i push my car, its usually shifting at 4k, hehe.

ya break-in is torture. what i did to keep from looking like a total granny is follow the semis on the slow lane.

I don't drive my car that hard. I just enjoy driving it. Be it fast or be it slow.

Jotan82, is that your girl? If she is you're a lucky mofo.

Since I have to keep this car for the next 8yrs, I don't race. I just go through corners quick and rev it up every once in a while. Some of you may say why get a Celica then, cause I like the way it makes you feel. Plus the interior/ exterior is gorgeous. I like the way it sits low to the ground and just about everything else about the car. Even if I did race, I'd get embarrassed anyways. Damn auto. Oh well there's always the next car.

Anything but racing a GT-S is a waste. j/p

Do I abuse it? No I don't, but I do love to push it on the streets. (within reason of course.) :). I do the opposite of vvtlikick. I hit 2nd cam at least once anytime I drive it, so my baby is in shape when I do get to race. :D But the place to really test its limits is on a road course, autox, or drag strip.

I best describe it as my baby, and my demon. I baby it like anyone else, but I will put any doubts about the car to rest. You need to learn respect for the machinery and appreciate all its subtleties, but you just gotta punch it as hard as you can too. Thats just my opinion though.

That's exactly the reason we bought Driver her GT. We changed the shocks and she raced it while it still had the temp tags on it!
She'll be AXing the car almost every weekend and in several National Tour, Pro Solo, and at Topeka next year. Going for a national GSL title! NEVER RACED ON THE STREET THO...

I have to commute to work, Driving behind trucks is not an option out here unless you want to end up with a ton of dents in your hood and windshield :D
Damn truckers kick up a ton of rocks for some reason... must be all the unnecessary wheels they have :p
