I have a question. Would 17x8 inch rims fit the celica properly? I mean no tire rubbing or in the inner fender? I am thinking of 17x8 rims with 205/45 r17s for the tires.

The offset is 35 mm. THanks

a 205 on an 8" rim? that doesn't sound like a very good fit. why 8"?
I don't think it would rub on the inside. as for the outside...it would move out .75" + 4mm = 0.9"...look at your car and imagine the outside edge of your wheel (assuming you have an oem on) moving 0.9" out...

8" rim? I mean that's the width. Here is the shortcut if you're interested. http://www.edgeracing.com/ERBundles/ERB%20Details.asp?WDE=LEX&WDIM=17&MWGR=392
As for the clearance, I guess that's enough space. I put my car into their website computer that basically finds the configuration that fits. Any suggestions are helpful.

I was also thinking of the millie miglia evo 5 . Here's a pic

and one with a celica.

The evo5 rims come as 17x7 or 17x8. According to their filters for the celica, the 17x8 should fit.

I know it's the width...I'm saying that a 205 tire is pretty skinny for an 8" rim. OEM wheel width is 6.5" with a 205 tire. I think w/ 8" you'd want 225/40.
However, I don't know why you'd want an 8" rim, unless it's for aesthetics or you have a lot more power than stock...just extra weight to carry around.

205 is too narrow, I used to have a 205 on 7.5 wide wheel & the edges of the tires wore too fast. I wne t up to a 215 & had no more problems. If I had went with the 17x8 I was going to go w/ the 225/40/17. Weight is important despite the size, so 17's weigh more than 18's, it all depends on the manufacturer & their process & materials used to make their wheels.
