View Full Version : Inside Scoop On Trd!!!!!!!

My inside sorces have given me the inside scoop.
1. The first BLITS SUPERCHARGER for the 2ZZ is here and TURBO mag has it.
2. TRD has made headers for the 1zz and 2zz. (I know this for a fact because I have seen them.) They are waiting for the praposal to be aproved. (And have been for over a year now.)
3. TRD has made a SUPERCHARGER for the 2zz, BUT ONLY 1. Dont get excited, you wont see it on the street or any magazine. Only with a garage pass to your next locale CART race, on the MATRIX pace car. Ready for another shocker? The feul management is not stock ecu, but the new AEM computer prototype for the 2zz.
4. Chris Rado, originaly suposed to have the 2ZZ motor in his up and coming Celica Drag Car, had the plug pulled on that motor. But in the time that it was being biult a sole motor was left standing at the end. A fully biult low compresion TRD 2ZZ motor. Who has it? CART's MATRIX pace car got it, you know the one with the only TRD 2ZZ supercharger.
5. TRD will be making the SUPERCHARGER for the 1zz. Look for it in the next year or so.
6. TRD also made 1 supergarger for IS300. It can also be found on the CART pace car team. But it uses a MOTECH fuel managment and stock ignition ECU.
Thanx,

wow.. these all seem like credible pieces of information.. the production of a prototype is always one of the first things a company does to test the feasibility of the product... So i'm not surprised... I think the headers Will make it through though.

might we ask what are your sources of inside information?

Direct from TRD biulder. I would tell you his name, but I forgot it.
I am not going to secritive so, if he is on the bords or if someone knows his name, Fe biulds the celeberty cars, pace cars, and anything els.
So all my info is right, trust me.

By the way the prototype on the MATRIX is just the computer MAP, not the supercharger. So dont epect them to make any more.

allright ...... more rumor and speculation about turdy 's doings.....
Sorry man, sorry for the crappy attitude I just dont' see any of this stuff really actually being produced for our car.

Where are our headers!!!!!! Approve the SOB's already and start selling them!
jesus! and i just ordered the hs headers cuz i didn't think the trd ones would ever come out!
Headers are useless unless you have a Supercharger.... Not enough back pressure through the exhaust manifold from the stock motor to make those headers work properly..!!! You're probably looking at a 1 to 2 hp gain tops without a supercharger of some type...
Rxvedub sounds like he has the same inside source that I do..
But that information that has leaked might get him fired !!! he he..
I know there's some more info I can give but I was sworn to secrecy guys........ Sorry....

Ok, I could be wrong here, but when I saw the Matrix pace car last weekend I thought the display in front of it said it was a 1ZZ.
Did anyone happen to take a picture of that display?

Since when do header(s) only work with superchargers? You better go tell all those V8 guys that their headers are useless. :D
A good header improves exhaust flow and scavenging, period. It has nothing to do with forced induction. I will agree that on a GT-S the improvement will probably be minimal, due to the fact that the stock manifold is quite efficient, but that's not a fault of the header.

This month's Car and Driver (along with the other article that's often discussed here) has a Toyota add section about the Matrix pace car that will be at the Long Beach Grand Prix in April. I can't find it on any Toyota site but here's the highlights:
2ZZ with modified ECM, forged JE pistons, stiffer valve springs, TRD supercharger, Centerforce racing clutch, TRD lsd, misc brake and suspension mods.
Bottom line: 247bhp@7400 rpm.

I guess that begs te question,,,, why do all the Honda guys do it and get such good gains? I think the stock header can always be improved on.

Umm, hey I think JC probably knows that already, being that he was talking about the 2ZZ. Thus his comment about the low level of backpressure. The supercharger is the only way you will see decent gains out of a header compared to the stock GT-S set-up.

if you can see/feel big gains over 6000rpm from pretty much removing everything after the header, it stands to reason with a legal exhaust system, you'll see noticeable gains from a header. combined with a TRD Exhaust, you'll probably see something like 10whp over 6000rpm (not just at switchover, all around...more like 15-20 at switchover).

the fact that the 2zzge header was developed by a race company shows that it is already a very good design.. one that Greddy tried to improve upon and could not.. so without s/c or nitrous a header wouldnt do much of anything..

I just have a very hard time believing that greddy would do anything to help us out. I think the fact that they "told" us that they couldn't get gains was a simple cop out. They could care less about the celica past putting out a pos exhaust system.

That would be a VERY interesting and exciting development! I REALLY hope that is what happened.:burnout:
OOOOOO wet dreams just thinking about that 260 HP !!!!!!! LIFT !!!!!!! HOLLY **** THE CELICA WAS SCARRY IN LIFT BEFORE .... IMAGINE THE GRANNYS HOLDIN THERE KIDS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD NOW. THE LIFT AT THAT MUCH HP WILL FEEL LIKE A SONIC BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry bout the caps just excited!!;)
Hey guys, Great Teaser #2, I mean J.C. over here..!!!!
Beleive me, I have told the V-8 guys time and time again... Even with a stock 350, there are so many restrictions on that motor from factory for emmission reasons..!!. Same for the imports...
You can put as many bolt-ons on the car as you want, but bottom line is that the header will not produce with out a supercharger or internal work (heads, pistons, rings, etc. etc.).... It's been proven time and time again... Stock back pressure is not at a point to make serious gains with a header... Sure they make more noise !!
But so does an open exhaust....!
I don't want you guys to make the same mistake I made a long time ago with my import...Waste Money! :nono:
I'm just trying to look out for you guys....J.C....
Im just intersted in the S/C ty

do you really think the TRD header will be greater than your HS header.........a header is a header fin. theres only so much you can do with it.............youd be a sucker to not get the hs header, and wait for a $600 TRD header, and get the same exact thing.

Well, I don't know. Don't get me wrong here, I'm stoked to get the HS headers. But yeah, my next post was going to be related to price, no way would I pay 600 bucks for headers! I'm just thinking that TRD might make a different design with more HP gain? The HS Headers look very similar to the stock headers IMO and maybe TRD will come out with a more radical design. Then again, the fit is a problem in terms of there being no space in our little engine bays.
