Im gonna be getting a new car soon (Not giving up the Celi). Ive narrowed it down to 2 cars and i just wanted to get some opinions. Im down to a Srt4 and a Sti. And please dont just say "pick the Sti", give me a reason behind your choice.

STi: greater performance...more reliable, better looking. AWD, Japanese. higher quality interior. better sounding car. more upgrades.

sti for reliability. What color would you get? It looks really good in black moded.

If i got the Sti i would Black or Blue. Everyone has blue though. I dont like the white. The new ACR Srt's in white look good. IF i got a SRT it would have to be the ACR.

STi:
Pros - Good looks, better quality parts, AWD, better wheels, better company, better after market support, faster, better resale value
Cons - $$
SRT-4
Pros - $$, quick, mods provided from Mopar that can be considered "dealer installed options" and therefore warrantied,
Cons - FWD, no limited slip (only if you get a 2003), low resale value, cheap interior, Dodge produces N/A Neons with a "SRT Package" that makes a base model neon look like your SRT (knock off), the car is more common than the STi (at least around here)

Funny how if i were to ask people at Neons.org, it would be one sided like this but for the neon. Well, thats why i wanted to ask the people here. Ive always leaned towards the STI. The only thing is that SRT is more or less around $10,000 less then the STI. Ill probrbly end up with the STI. Im just gonna hate someday running into a SRT on the highway and getting pull from a roll. Its all about the dig.

Thats true, would have 2 neons. One slow neon is enough :D . I guess i gotta with the STI. I dont know if you guys have seen it yet but the 06 STI's have a different front end. ill try to find a picture to see what u guys think.

I am in the market just as you are. I have test driven both cars and they are both pretty fun rides. From my research there are srts with stock internals holding 450-500 whp. I didnt do much research on the sti because sabaru has a very good rep as compared to dodge. From a dig you will never beat a skilled sti with similiar mods and hp due to the AWD. From a roll it would be a drivers race. I think you should maybe look at some other vechicles in the same price range that 32k-?????? would result in some parts such as a turbo. 32-22 leaves around 10k into your srt which would make it faster. Just consider all your options and know srt4 is pretty reliable for a dodge(and the money).

Im gonna probably get a 05 STI unless something comes up and cant aford it. Then i might go with the cheaper SRT. But would rather have the STI.

no offense man but its just a stupid question that didnt need to be asked...there is no doubt that the STi is a superior car in every way(cept top end, the neons is the same or better) but it costs like $13k more. i dont see why ud even compare them...if u can easily afford an STi(and u are comfortable spending 33k on a subaru) why on earth would u get an srt-4?

If you can afford the STI, get it. Only haters who can't afford the STi would PREFER the SRT-4. I'm not saying the SRT-4 is bad for the price you pay, but there is no way on earth that it will ever be a better car than the STI. Think about it. I bet 90% of the SRT-4 forum you mentioned only dog on the STI because all they could afford was the SRT-4. The SRT-4 is just a neon with a turbo engine slapped in. The STI has a race heritage and much higher quality all around in every aspect of a car that matters. But in the end, you must buy what you can afford. A lot of people here would LOVE to be driving a Ferrari, but all we could afford is a Celica. That doesn't make the Celica better or worse. It is a good car for the money, but it is what we could afford.

I'd get an EVO over an STi. I've driven both and the feel of the EVO VIII is superior to the STi. It's more predictable and just deems more fun to drive. Price is about the same too.

I wouldn't base a decision on a car over the insurance. If your looking for performance and have the money, insurance shouldnt be a factor. I'd still go witht he EVO VIII though.

Even though these are not choices, I'd either get an Evo, G35, or 350. I'd rather have a fast and good looking car then a car that has to be fast so people don't see how ugly it is.

These topics are always pretty funny in my opinion. My choice would be(and might be this spring) the STi. I pretty much feel the same about the Neon as most people who have posted here except that I have one other hang-up. I just cannot get over the first time I saw a Neon advertisement. It was a huge billboard, with the front end of a Neon, and it looked like a smiley face, across the top of the the ad it said, "Hi........I'm Neon" I almost puked. From that day on I knew I'd never own one of those cars. The fact is, if the topic were a choice between a new SRT4, and maybe something like a current Model Corolla or something, it might be a little harder to chose. But, having the choice between an "STi" and a "SRT4" is just no contest , go for the best car, not neccessarily just the fastest of the two. Subaru is just a superior company to Dodge these days. Good luck in your endeavors

Its as fast as a Z or maybe 1-2 tenths slower. Handles tremednously. Very nice top end. Cheaper. STI would smoke it.

If you have the money for an Sti, then that is an easy choice. The interior of the Neon makes the Sti look like a Lexus. The cars aren't even comparible. It would be like choosing between a Camaro and a Corvette. If the Corvette was in the price range, well there's your answer.

IF you got an S2000, then you'ld have to slap a supercharger on there to even contend with the STI.

SRT-4 theres so many options behind that car . The mopar stage 3 kit is unremarkably quick. And by the time you get the Mopar stage 3 w the Srt-4 you wont even spend as much as the STI. Plus the Srt-4 is way lighter.

If it sucks then dont post. Im asking for opinions on each car. Im not asking everyone what i should buy, because thats my decision. Anyways.
I drove both cars today. Ill have to say that the sti i alot faster then i thought. Though i felt more at home in the SRT, the sti is more fun to drive. And since i "probably cant afford it", i told the dealership to bring me a black one with silver rims and not the gold. I dont like how they look with the gold. So ill be picking that up soon.
