Hey all. I was wondering: should I have my clutch installed at the same time as my turbo install, like, will it be easier since they have to get at the engine anyway, just have 'em throw the clutch in while they're in there, or would it really not matter?

it might be easier to do it all at once...if they have a lift to work under the car...

Sweet. I figured it would probably take less time to install the clutch with the turbo than to install it before or after, thus saving time (read: money).

well time wise it will will be about the same...but if you to the clutch before the turbo is installed...you probally wont have pipes in the way....

If you really wanted to bundle a bunch of work together, add Energy suspension steering rack and front lower control arm bushings plus motor mount inserts to that list. You need to remove the subframe to do the steering rack, which makes the trans and the whole rest of the engine real easy to get at. There's also no better time to do a rear motor mount insert.

Yeah, maybe if I had the money, but I don't.

The clutch install is easier if you do it all at once because you will already have the tranny drained and one axle out.

To answer your first question: turbo installs are not easier with the transmission out. They don't interfere with anything on the job. Its the subframe that gets in the way.
You can get the front sway bar bushing, control arm bushings, steering rack bushings and motor mount inserts for around $60 for the Celica. If that sounds like too much for you, you might want to rethink a turbo install. Stuff just manages to come up and cost you money.
Also, your stock clutch will never hold with a turbo, so you're gonna need to upgrade it anyways. With the subframe out to do the bushings and mount inserts, the trans job is a piece of cake.

I'm gonna upgrade the clutch, regarldess of when I get it in (before or during.) I'll talk to my shop and see what they think.
