I'm looking into buying a new head unit. I'm willing to pay up to $200 for it. As of this moment the ones that I'm considering are the Pioneer DEH-P4700MP, the Sony CDX-F5710, and the Kenwood KDC-MP425. Which one would you guys pick. I'm a noob on audio equipment so any input will be great. My current audio setup is the stock headunit, 6-1/2 Kenwood Two way speakers in the front and the back with a 160 Watt peak, stock tweeters, and a Kenwood 8" amplified subwoofer.

Also what mounting kit do you think that is better?? At Crutchfield they give you one which doesn't seem to have any brand, while at the Cardomain store they give a Scotche kit and connector.

Any mid to high range Pioneer or Alpine.

But on your budget I would go with the Pioneer.

I just bought this Pioneer DEH-P4700MP from Crutchfield.
I think it is great and the free Harness and mounting kit are also great, also free shipping. I bought mine on sale July 29th, for 155$.

I think Crutchfield is great by the way. The instructions they give you makes it very easy to install.

Why do you say that? I've had nothing but awesome experiences buying from them, and with the customer service as well?? Now I'm trying to figure out what your issue might have been. Fill us in would you please?

dont get a sony, youll regret it. to put it in a better perspective. sony stuff is what best buy pushes the most. my friend suckered for it. he stuff keeps gettin blown out. hes gone through 2 sets of their speakers hes on his thrid now. sonys car audio isnt as good of quality as their other electronics. (ie. ps2 tvs vcrs, weve had one of their vcrs for a long time, no problems except it doesnt record. lol)

id go with pioneer or kenwood those two brands have good quality for your pricerange. and some alpines. i have a kenwood. and some of my other friends have pioneers. all work great.

I think that I'll be going with the Pioneer DEH-4700MP. Although I like the DEH-3700MP faceplate more, but I guess that since the 4700 has more features it is better.

I bought my pioneer 8600MP from them and I got ripped off. The prices on bestbuy and some other stores are more cheaper. Then a friend of mine bought speakers, headunit for his Toyota truck, the installation instructions where all wrong, we called the customer service, they faxed us the same instructions and we called them again and complained, bitch ass customer service gave us an attitude and hang up. We sent the merchandise back because we where not satisfied and they are charging us extra because we cut some wires on the head unit and on the crutchfield instructions they sent us, they told us to cut the wires.

So good for you if you got A+ customer service by crutchfield but we where not satisfied

Around $200... I think an Alpine CDA-9847 would be a good choice. I've always like the clean sound and look of Alpine HU's.

Sony car audio stuff is very not good.

Kenwood > Pioneer, imo. The dot matrix displays on the Kenwoods are much better. Besides, Pioneers are kinda cheesy... and everyone and their 2nd cousins have one.

Depends on your luck, low end Sony is a gamble. I paid 380$ for an Xplod HU over 4 years ago and its still running and still up with todays features. It's been in 5 cars of mine. Even back in the day I had 12cd changer, front rear aux outputs and inputs. MD changer and everything. I'm amazed it still works. Only had to repair it once and that was a minor screen issue. But yes MOST of the time crappy sony xplod car audio blows.

Crutchfield is great. I have had nothing but great experiences with them through the years. The free mounting bracket and harness are perfect especially if its a brand new install replacing a stock head unit. The instructions are very clear if you have never done such an install also. About the head unit, I personally dislike pioneer head units. I find the graphics get old really quick, I used to own a deh-750mp and quickly become bored of the repetative crap on the screen. Recently I purchased a JVC kd-ar960 from crutchfield and am loving it. The display is multi colored with a scrolling display which comes in handy with the Sirius satellite subscription I also got. Ill post an install of it in the near future.

I love crutchfield. But people dont love thier prices. But I've shopped so much there I get hooked up everytime. From home to car audio. Instructions are great as well as the free brackets and harnesses.
