alright well i am tryin to figure out the best way of fiberglassing my dash with the best results. i have seen 2 ways of doin this. either ruffing the dash up with sand paper and laying fiberglass mat down and mixing resin and fiberglass poweder on top of the mat then let dry and sand, then primer and sand again then paint. or laying fleece on top of the dash and pouring resin on top and then sanding and painting. just wonderin how others have done it. i am lookin to get that glass look so the finish is just like the exterior of the car. got all the supplies just need the steps to do it right. thanks for any help

you can just sand it smooth start with 120 grit until its smooth or feels smooth to you, then 320 the whole thing. prime it, sand with 600 and repete the prime and sanding with 600 one or 2 more time and it will be smooth as hell.

so there is no real need to glass it?

What kind of paint do you use? Can you use that kyrlon plastic paint or I know autzone sells some sort of paint thats used for dashes Ive used it on my center console and guage pod covering. It came out really nice.

sand it down your self like lowredcruzer said and then take it to a pro to paint. There is really no need to paint it, you can get better results for less money opposed to glassing a dash which is a mess. (time consuming and you have to know what your doing)

well i was planning on doing the entire interior of the car. i was really lookin into fiberglass because me and speed4theneed tried to do his doors and they didnt come out so hot by just sanding them. so that is why i am doin fiberglass.

Theres a big difference between the console and the doors. The console is smooth from the start and the doors are heavily textured. A good painter can give the stock console a perfect fiberglass look. The door you could use a high build primer and layer it on then snad it smooth or throw on a quick layer on bondo. The texture isnt so high that you would want to glass it IMO. Not to mention the pain and weight of doing it. So bondo would be the best solution to smooth doors IMO. Get the green body stuff and just throw it on. Sand er down.
